Yeah, let's withdraw from Eurovision and create Iberiavision, exchange the 12 points every year and win ex-aequo with 12 points every year xheart

ahahahahahahahaha! B e careful not to destroy the bet companies though!!!

iac, Portugal should have qualified today imo, the song was uplifting, performance was good.......I was expecting it to pass

Not as bad as expected, but:

* vocally she was one of the poorest in the field
* she can't dance
* not sexy enough to grab some "horny votes"

What with all the different regions of spain and portugal, we could go for more than forty songs altogether! I just can't begin to guess who'd want to watch such a program. Judging be our eurovision experience, I don't even want to imagine the quality of the entries involved

I was rather disappointed with her performance. Had she been a bit more "oomph-ey", and had her vocals been strong, she would have had a better chance at qualifying.

NO!

First of all we have more regions, so we'd win every year thanks to the neighbor voting and diaspora and neighboring regions like Andalucía and Galicia would be the Ireland and UK of this.
I don't know about Portugal, but block voting between the Spanish regions would be even more disgusting than the ESC one

Let's face it, the live performance was awful and she has no charisma for this kind of songs.

Well, we've got some tiny regions which would add up to the number! And I'm sure Galiza would always vote for Minho, as Minho would vote for Galiza. Oporto would never vote for Lisbon, it would be an Azerbaijan/Armenia like relationship. Would Barcelona vote for Madrid? Myself, i would vote for any piece of your Flamenco every year round, wherever it came from! :D

This has been one of my favourites but it was always going to be hard to qualify even if it is one of the best songs. Portugal just doesn't have the cultural neighbours or Eurovision reputation to help them and not singing in English is a handicap now. Even clearly standing out from all the others couldn't help it qualify other boring things like the Swedish song or trash like the Icelandic one.

This was an expected failure. And a fair one. xshrug

The lack of RTP's ambition, inviting composers and singers who are at the best mediocre, starting organising the Portuguese NF only a few months before the NF takes part explains this result. THIS IS NOT what the Portuguese music scene is about. There's a lot to show and all these songs that have been picked (1999-2001, 2003, 2004-07-2011-14) are definitely NOT what could be considered an image of what Portugal's best music is. And even Emanuel could have done 'better' to what catchy and acceptable songs concerns. I don't like his 2007 entry, however that one was much better that this.

So I have no hopes that things will become better in a near future. :?

Performance wasn't bad at all, lots of energy and perfectly decent. The Swedish song on the other hand was boring, stiff and stilted and just got through on reputation.

I agree with you to what Sweden concerns! If this is the biggest fave to win then I'm afraid ESC is completely s**wed this year.  :? xrofl2

Energy doesn't need to be cheap, in fact it is so much more energetic when it is not. The Swedish song is ace by most people's standards and i'm not one who usually enjoys that sort of thing. What a comparison.

Or you could compare it to Iceland (just a gimmick), Montenegro (boring but favoured by the producers with the draw they got). I thought the dancing and costumes looked fine, it actually stood out compared to some of these others.

I didn't think so at all. It's a fun catchy song with lively dancing. Eurovision shouldn't just be for bigger countries that can afford all the effects.

yeah two very big ones made it - Montenegro and San Marino!

And smaller ones didn't like Portugal, Estonia, Albania... all who deserved to. Even Belgium and Latvia probably deserved to.

Others like Sweden and Ukraine definitely did not.

Montenegro and Hungary just had a good draw, time to bring back the random draw which is fairer and so cannot be biased.
