Would you explain to us the meaning of the song? Maybe I could appreciate the song if I knew what the lyrics are saying.

Lol r3gg13, how are you? I went to watch the show live for the first time and this was the choice... I was so shocked that I simply couldn't react... People were shouting and deeply disagreeing with their victory, it was a nightmare after a nice eve, actually. I can't blame all the fans who hate this. I do, so what can be said? Lyrics try to be positive concerning who's sad and depressed with life (which is pretty ironic, they made me feel this way after winning lol) they say you must gather with people who can make you feel better and bring cheese, bread and wine to share with the ones who cheer you up... at the end of the show, before they sang again, they said this song is dedicated to all young people who are jobless and despised by the political power and their decisions... people were leaving to avoid listening to them again, but some of them (me included) had to because everybody tried to leave at the same time... was pretty hilarious now that I think about it... In the end, they gave a highly political note to their song... but lyrics are not directly political. Could be seen as a support to all the people who face serious problems in their daily lives and as a try to cheer them up.

I'm good :) I wish I could have seen the show live, but too bad I live in another continent haha.
Yeah, I saw a video of people leaving the last performance. I could sort of see why the televoters liked it then, because of the whole positive message behind the song. I doubt that people in other countries will understand it though.

Which singer sounded the best live?

This is the worst song selected so far. Wow, this ESC will be really weak :(

On the opposite side, Carla had a poor perfomance and Filipa even worse... I must admit neither of them would go to the final... Rui, Nuno or 7saias would be the only 3 possible decent choices for Portugal.

Focus on the entries you like and don't waste your time trying to humiliate the others you hate. That's what I do

Wisely said :) I'll try and stick to only criticizing my own countrys crap choices so far this year instead, and give praise where it's deserved. :D

oikotimes (surprise) insinuated that this song may face disqualification due to possible political lyrics. Again, the odds are slim that this is going to happen and we wouldn't know until March 14th if that is really going to happen.

True Matt, odds are very slim because lyrics don't exactly express any political point of view. Their show performance and everything they said, however, before their second performance is nothing BUT political.

This is pretty suitable for some popular celebrations in any Iberian village, after 4 am and lots of drink. Otherwise.... no
This will get higs points from Spain (most probably our 12), but I'll give just one point ;)

The song isn't any good, but the band are comedians and they already had a lot of popular support, which explains the televoting. It was mostly because of that that they won, but most people didn't find any of the songs any good, so they thought they might as well lose with a song that carries a little meaning.
Like every other song from the pair, it's supposed to get people out of their chairs and on the streets demanding what they want and to vote, rather than abstain.
Personally, I prefer their song from last year, but it was disqualified as they had already performed it live. Most of their songs are pretty good in accomplishing their purpose, this one carries a little zing of that revolution period, but it isn't as good as their other songs.

This was what they competed with last year.

After checking the lyrics I don't see political lyrics. If there wasn't any problem with Lithuanian song last year, then there can't be with this song. "The fight is happiness and people go to shout in the streets" is a protest and it explains how many Portuguese people feel right now, but it's nothing political that could hurt anyone ;)

Well, Portugal qualified 3 years in a row, I guess they can live with the fact that they won't make it to the finals in 2011.

Looks like a comedy show and not a song

Well if Portugal wants to throw its money like this it is her choice but it would be wiser to keep its money and DO NOT SEND NOTHING THIS YEAR TO EUROVISION

By the way Portugal has similar economic problems with Greece and Ireland if i am not mistaken

If the Pirates of the Sea could qualify solely from the televotes in 2008, I don't see why this couldn't. I feel like this song is a bit better than that song. Still, maybe this song not qualifying might be a good wake up call to Portugal, and perhaps they'll send something stunning and oomph-ey next year :) I never lose hope on my favorite Portugal

The pirates of the sea had a song with a catchy melody and a fun theme....plus it was in english.
Portugal's song has no strong melody and those who don't speak portuguese will just scratch their heads cause they have no idea what they're saying...
