So I just listened to the songs on Youtube, and I was surprised with how much I love Kasia's song in the end, she has a powerful voice too.
And just when I go back to this thread I realise Alicja's was chosen. At first I was disappointed, but after a few listen I'm starting to warming up to it. Of course her voice is a big plus for me.

I just read that the girl singing "Empires" is 17. Yes, she has a great voice and is beautiful but I wonder if she is too young to really sell such a 'mature' sounding song (which is not very good in the first place). That will be a challenge and judging from the live performance, she doesn't really appear to be connecting with the song in an authentic way.

so, yeah. this and shaj are twinsies twinsies twinsies in niche and potential demographic, with this one having a bit more impact (if alicja's outfit is very fik 2013 while arilena's was fik 2040). nothing special, another one in poland's quest to get eurovision juries to look at them. why do you think it's okay not being you because of them, poland?

Her voice!!!! It's not the best song, she's not going to win, but will the juries like this? YES. 8 points.

THE GOOD:
-This is a very good song, overall.
-Her vocals are definitely the highlight here.
-That surprise high note at the end is also a plus.

THE BAD:
-The only thing I will say is that it's not my taste, but it's such a good song that it doesn't matter all that much.

THE VERDICT:
As I said before, this type of song needs to be executed very well, or it just won't work. Fortunately, this song does just that. As an added bonus, Alicja's vocals sound pretty similar to Joss Stone's, which oddly works for this song. The surprise high note at the end is like a cherry on top of a very good song. What we have here is a strong contender, and that might be enough. 12 points

This studio is small, in Arena this can be fantastic.

Out of the options, it was definitely the best one. She's got an amazing voice and it's a solid ballad. Out of all the female ballads this year, that's my favorite so far.

Wow, it's like a blend of Broadway drama and typical rock-infused East bloc pop..... except actually good. Don't know what to think about this yet, no doubt the vocals are very skilled though i'm so-so about the very deep "thicc singing" style, definitely a respectable entry from a country that keeps on surprising.
