Yes, they don't know that Michal has huge amount of teenage followers who have no clue about music contest and Poland is full of trolls who think that if you have controversial look you automatically are successful Eurovision participant.

Right... I'd love to know what's so controversial about his look; maybe I missed something in the video?! When you say "have no clue about music contest", I take it you mean "don't agree with me about what makes a good song"?

:fi: 2015, :is: 2015, :ie: 2014, :gr: 2014, :uk: 2014, :az: 2014?

I don't think any of them was in Top 5. Finland had been in Top 5 with bookies before they chose their entry. :uk: was indeed another flop. The rest was not that high in odds, they were not in Top 5 (maybe with exception of Azerbaijan but they were so high only because their previous entries and performances were outstanding).

If this song makes it to the final, the reaction here will be epic to see.

I'm sure some people would actually vanish. It would be delicious to see though. This kind of brings back memories of the time I was laughed down when I said Austria would win from the very first moment I heard "Rise Like A Phoenix", or that "Suus" would come top 5. I've a strong feeling Michal will make the final and it would be lovely to witness it. Nothing better than when a song you love against all odds succeeds.

Margaret would flop because of juries, should would be like Cleo - high with televote, last/close to last with juries.

That's your prediction, fact is we will never know what would have happened.
I just don't get the point of these comments, XYZ would have flopped/won if chosen.

Poland is a very conservative country (you probably know this) and his looks are considered unusual. Don't believe this? Read comments on internet, on onet, gazeta, youtube, pudelek, etc. Don't pretend that his looks are not important because in Poland it was a big deal, especially when he was a participant in X Factor. Moreover, after Conchita's victory people were making fun that Poland should send Michal Szpak, and even interviewers from various internet portals started to ask him whether he would consider participation in Eurovision. In Western Europe his looks are not controversial at all but in Poland they are.

Most teenagers on internet (look on Facebook or youtube) think this can actually win, that this really stand out. Sorry but this is no different than :al: 2016 for example. They watch Eurovision occasionally so they obviously have no clue what does well and what does not. It's not about my taste at all. E.g. I don't like Russian entry this year but I still think this is a possible winner. I thought Sweden was overhyped last year but still it had a big chance to win.

I am aware that Poland has a reputation for being more conservative than most Western European countries, so I'm not "pretending" (or any such codswallop) that his looks aren't important. To me, from my background, they are not. If they are to Polish people, then fine, but I cannot speak for Polish people and it's daft to think I can, unless you think for some reason that I am Polish! People say this could win? Well maybe it could. Doesn't mean it will. People on this forum make all sorts of predictions every year and get them wrong. Two people, yourself and Mr. RainyWoods, have predicted very different results for Michal at ESC, so someone who knows a lot about Eurovision is going to get it wrong (assuming, ofc, you know a fair bit about ESC, which I have no reason to doubt), so I honestly couldn't care less what people are saying now.

TBH I thought I was replying to revallsay (because she has the same avatar), who is from Poland (as far as I'm concerned). That's why I wrote that you are pretending that Poland is not conservative. My bad.

Anyway, I think there is no point in further discussion. You and your lot love the song. Good for you. Enjoy. I am disappointed and I hope that this will be the biggest Polish flop ever, just so they can get punished for not choosing another (IMO better) song. We will see who will ultimately open a bottle of champagne in May ;)

I can understand your point. I can see where you are coming from with the Finland 2015 comparisons and have no problem with you preferring Margaret's song. We got what we both wanted in re Finland 2015. Obviously I hope that it shall be me with the champagne (or cava; I am from Yorkshire and keep an eye on my budget ;) ), but have no gripes with people disagreeing when it comes to what makes a good song.

Hopefully it won't. Sadly there is a huge possibility it will because of Polish diaspora and the fact that the second semi is extremely weak as of now (with few exceptions). It would be a disaster if this bore qualified instead of :bg: or :mk: for example.

How can you say that when we haven't heard those 2 songs? They could be utterly terrible for all we know.

I don't think Kaliopi and Poli will let me down. Hopefully their upcoming songs will be just as amazing as their previous ones. Moreover, I don't think anyone will come up with song worse than Colours of Your Life (at least not this year).

:dk: :fi: :ba: :be: :ie: :uk: just to name a few ^^

Well, in my opinion all of the songs you have mentioned are in fact better than Szpak's garbage. :ba: is actually in my Top 15. On the other hand, Colours of Your Life is my least favorite song of this season (it is even worse than :me: and :by: so that is a big achievement for Michal ). Each to their own.
Overall, semifinal 2 has a poor lineup. I have two clear favorites (:lv: and :ua:), two songs that I like a lot (:ch: and ) and I have big hopes of :mk: and :bg: sending great entries. The remaining countries have either average/bad/awful songs or I don't care about them that much (:au:).

Don't worry, we'll save semi 2 tonight xqueenbitch

You should send Florena, but I already know that you won't, since it seems that female singers are a big no-no for Romania (the last time a female singer represented Romania in ESC was in 2009).

So basically Romania is the opposite of Ukraine :)
