Re: POLAND 2016

I've read a lot about the new guidelines of the new media-law in poland and of demonstrations.
To our polish friends. Can you enlighten us on that matter? Will this have any consequences on the choice of future entries? I've read for instance, that the new chief of TVP Jacek Kurski is an extremely conservative and nationalistic person. Are these just hyped fears or is there really a threat to pluralism in polish media in the future?

I can tell you about Eurovision related things.. Well, Jacek Kurski is not, let's say, an ESC fan

He was strongly against Conchita and he dislikes how the voting works. He said ESC is not about music :D So I think Szpak won't be chosen.

Do you know if he approved My Słowianie though? I'm curious.

Now I am not Polish, so I only speculate, but I suppose that Poland will stay in ESC, mainly cause they will get a bigger fine to pay for not competing now. But I wouldn't be suprised if it will be a statement from TVP in the song choice. So guys, we better get ready for something from them...

I guess none of us can tell much about that, because it's not a proper place. In a nutshell - ruling party (they won election in late October) is going on the war with everyone (except Orban), so almost each European organization is worried. That's all.

Polish media is way more plural and free than Swedish media for instance (especially Swedish public service that is like the opposite of pluralist), yet Sweden is the host

The EU commission just found a new country to bully, that's all. If you don't go down the leftist-liberal-PC-pro-EU-pro-Islam-mass-immigration route the EU commission want, they will bully you. They did it with Austria and Slovakia, they've done it to Hungary for years now, they tried to do it to Denmark (that luckily had opt-outs from stupid EU laws that saved them from bullyism)... *yawn*

If there's any truth what-so-ever (doubt it) that Poland might be kicked out of ESC based on vague politically-motivated reasons proposed by some liberal-leftists within the EBU who can't tolerate other opinions, then what about obvious cases with "totally" controlled state media like the one we see in Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey (amongst some others)? or other dubious cases like Sweden (the actual host), Germany, Italy, Hungary, Macedonia and some others? I mean really!? If a country is to be kicked out of entering ESC based on the bias we currently see against Poland, then half of the countries should be kicked out already.

Who talked about kicking Poland out? I was actually asking how polish people perceive the newest developments in their country regarding the ESC. I'm not talking EU-politics here!. No need to take this as an opportunity to bash EBU, Sweden, the EU or who ever else....

Who talked about kicking Poland out?

There were rumors that certain EBU figures wanted to kick Poland out. However, the head of EBU today said that "Poland will definitely take part in ESC 2016".

I never heard those rumors either. But I guess if true we should expect another jury flop from Poland then no matter what the song is

Re: POLAND 2016

God, If Fascist Spain, communist Yugoslavia, dictorships like Belarus and Azerbaijan competed in eurovision, WHY SHOULD POLAND BE KICKED OUT?!

Jesus, some political analysts should stay out of Eurovision, cause they don't understand it.

Yeah most media are taking things way out of proportions for example Macedonia has the same awful laws for MRT(one of the reasons why it's so terrible) yet nobody is complaining or threatening to kick us out, so if Macedonia is in with no problems despite horrible media laws I don't see a problem for Poland.

Maybe they talk about it because Poland is in the EU? You know, once you enter it, you shall remain pro-EU no matter what and say yes to everything, otherwise you're considered a black sheep. :?

Anyway, that's a nonsense, since when Eurovision has become the "best democratic country contest"? Hungary is still there as far as I remember, yet its government is stigmatized by several so-called "good democratic" countries... So these gossips, whoever they are, should put their own house in order before spreading this kind of rumour.

Re: POLAND 2016

I don't believe in an exclusion of Poland, whatever some people who want to get attention say. What worries me - and that was my question to polish fans, because they have more insight into the situation than I have - is, if this conservative turn will have effects on possible future polish entries. Especially after what was said about the new program director and his comments on Conchita. Will we have less unusual, open minded, extravagant, funny, out-of-the "normal" (whatever that is),... entries?
