EURO 2012 and especially Olympic Games excuses sound really ridiculous although I respect your desicion. Once more bye Poland!

I'm actually surprised they haven't withdrawn earlier than this. The interest for Eurovision in Poland is very low, they belong to a voting bloc which generally have little interest for Eurovision aswell and although having a quite large diaspora group, unlike some other diaspora groups, this one barely cares about Eurovision.

Offcourse these are no legitimate reasons for withdrawal imo, but it partly influence the results in Eurovision though.

The big the great injured without Poland in Eurovision 2012, of course it will be Ukraine - (They have a big diaspora especially in southern Poland) and they vote hight or slowly to them since Ukraince first participation

TVP is just clueless. The voice just finished here and there were people who already expressed interest in doing Eurovision. I think it's just an excuse like "we'll withdraw for now" but in reality it means they just don't want to do it anymore.

If only TVP2 could take over. They're much better.

I'm sure TVP will miss the deadline anyway and will have to decide whether to pay a fine or send a representative and they'll decide to pay the fine anyway. Haha.

TVP was always clueless when it came to Eurovision (atleast for the past decade).

Isn't TVP2 part of the whole TVP family?? I hope some private channel takes over (like TVN or whatever).

TVP, the Polish national broadcaster, has confirmed and informed esctoday.com its intention and decision not to participate at the forthcoming Eurovision Song Contest in Baku. Thus Poland won't be in Baku. The Polish broadcaster made this decision on Friday the 15th of December due to the fact that they will be busy with the coverage of 2 big events during 2012: The Euro 2012 Football Championship and the 2012 Olympic Games.

There is still hope, because as usual there is terrible confusion in TVP1. When information about withdrawing appeared on Facebook's site of TVP1, the channel TVP on facebook responded that all the information will be given by his spokesman on the official website of television. Yesterday we got message - and that message was from the spokesman, but not on the official site of TVP1 but on one of the major portals in Poland, who conducted an interview with a spokesperson in Poland.

Generally decision met with protests by people on the internet. TVP speaks sharply about, among other things Michael Wisniewski (from Ich Troje), Magdalena Tul and many others. OGAE Poland also sent an open letter to TVP. Fans gather signatures on petitions. It was established also the official complaint to the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting, a body which is a level above the TVP.

As you can see, we, fans of Eurovision, and ordinary people, we do everything in our power bring Poland back to Eurovision Song Contest.

So, it isn't true that ordinary people don't care about ESC, just that stupid national broadcaster of theirs. I really hope the protests will have an impact in the end. Poland has always been one of my fave countries, so it will be a big loss if they miss the contest, even for just one year.

Well, hardcore ESC fans care, but it's true that majority of the Polish population doesn't though.

But yeah, most true is that TVP never really gave any effort.

So this is it then... Poland will join Slovakia, Czech Republic, Italy and a few other countries in the "ESC-sceptic" club, opting in and out at random.

It's not quite true that normal people do not care about eurovision. After message on Facebook many people, not at all Eurovision fans expressed their dissatisfaction with the lack of participation in the Eurovision Song Contest in Baku .. In this special year for us - when the eyes of whole Europe will be turned to us because we will organize Euro 2012, and after Poland had presidency in the European Union.

The thing is that TVP expects some governmental grants for their Euro 2012 and digitalization projects.
In this case, it is very unlikely that this decision will be changed.

And I personally hope that.

It appears that the EBU is desperately trying to convince Poland to stay in the contest. They offered to support them proposing a cut of their participation fee.

So officially they are still out but personally I'd say, don't count them out just yet.
