The flag on our avatar doesn't necessarily have to be the flag of the country we live in.

In that case, it's completely pointless.

OFFICIAL: Russia was banned from participate in the Olympic Games 2016!! for first time since 1984 when the ::su the LA Olympic games in 1984.

So will be a battle between :us: and ::na for the first place. While :uk:, :ca:, :de:, :au: and :jp: will dispute the 3-7 places at medal table.

I guess if Putin will send atomic bombs to COI office in New York to revert the decision.:rolleyes:

Where do you have that from? All I can find is the CAS confirmed disqualification in athletics, the IOC will decide about the other sports in the following days.

And tbh, even if Russia participates the best they can reach in the medals table is 3rd place. Also we shouldn't forget :kr: and :fr: ;)

It's imminent that IOC will DQ the Russian Federation to participate in the 2016 Olympics. The pressure is too big to them! Poor Russian athletes who waste 4 years (and years of training) just for nothing this year.

Hope we ( :de: ) can get back into Top 5 but it's more realistic that we keep dropping in the medal ranking and maybe get passed by :fr: .... The promotion of athletes of non-football sports here is miserable. Most don't have professional conditions yet

Always enjoy watching the Olympic Games (despite Russia trying to spoil it with all their sports athletes drug cheating) I have so many great memories from London 2012, the whole country was truly on a high when the Summer Olympics started and no-one wanted it to end, from the very British and spectacular Opening ceremony to Team GB's incredible performance with 29 gold medals. I can't wait for Rio...xparty

My earliest and favourite Olympic moment

Kelly Holmes 800m and 1500m GOLD Athens 2004

and of course being blown away by the Industrial Revolution part from London 2012 Opening ceremony

Nah I'm pretty sure that the German athletes are going to do better than they did in London tbh - Around 50 medals should be possible. It's the biggest Olympic Team since 2004 after all! xcheer
I have to agree with the second part though - It's disgusting to see that a lot of the athletes have to do a second job to be able to "live" while the footballers are literally drowning in money. (That's one of the reasons why I'm not a big football fan)

Agree on that one too. I'm happy that the athletes from my favourite sport (Biathlon) can live from the money they earn, but still don't earn "too much".
About the Olympics: I like rowing, running, swimming and fencing best and I think the German team will do as well as in London.

Yesterday, Team Canada named trampolinist Rosie MacLennan as its flagbearer for the opening ceremony, she won Canada's only gold medal 4 years ago in London.

And this is what they're going to wear marching into the Maracana on August 5, the uniforms were created by DSquared2

Here's more of what our Olympians and Paralympians will be wearing:

Russia was allowed to participate despite of the doping scandal. I wonder what the reason might be... xthink

However, single federations have the power to get out of the Games those who have been found doping in the past. 7 swimmers - including Efimova and Morozov - were excluded. Efimova was found guilty twice...

I am glad Russia is not totally banned, but I agree to this. This should be for all athletes, those who has been using doping in the past should NEVER compete in the Olympic Games, whatever country they come from. Period.
