RASMUS ISLANDS

Another interesting mix of a group, but like the real World Cup, I think the Dutch are a clear favourite, both in terms of NSC popularity and the variety within the country itself :p Barbados is known for certain RnB stars ^^ And I'd say that in terms of real countries, Faroe Islands and Malaysia are the underdogs/unknowns here.

As for NSC, Genext and Rasmus Islands are rather new, with little to judge by. Zoidiac, as the top8 of the group, has built up a reputation as a very strong contender, never missing a final in its short history, while TaA has had a mixed history, with some very high placings as well as "epic fails"

GENEXT
RASMUS ISLANDS

------------------------
ZOIDIAC
TÍR AN ABHAINN

I think this is where wide appeal might reign supreme. Of course, I haven't seen any songs, but with risky countries and a known reputation for choosing some risky songs, TaA and Zoidiac could be at risk of losing out. However, Zoidiac usually succeeds with even their risky choices, so they can always, and probably will, prove me wrong![/center:3pd6yda4]

GROUP E:
-rs BELVIST
-de ZECHONIA
th.png
LYAPUNOVIA
-ca NEW ACADIA

Back on familiar territory with these countries, and as a result it presents itself as quite a hard group  With a large number of Serbian NSCers, there is always support for this country, and Germany and Canada have also been regular success stories in NSC; Thailand less so, simply because it hasn't been represented so much, but the country still boasts a decent music scene.

With a tendency toward heavy rock, Zechonia has rarely scored highly in NSC, except for their recent victory :p If they follow their usual trend however, it might not be such a successful world cup. Belvist has had frequent successes in the past, and will be one of the favourites, while newcomer New Acadia has shown a decent debut in the contest. Lyapunovia has seen success in the past, but has faded into obscurity a little recently.

BELVIST
NEW ACADIA

------------------------
LYAPUNOVIA
ZECHONIA

Three countries here are representing their home countries, meaning they'll have a solid grasp of the music scene and produce the very best from their large choice. Belvist and Serbia is a winning combination, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them get further in the future rounds too. New Acadia has also shown attachment to Canada in NSC already, so clearly knows what to choose from the local music there. Lyapunovia and Zechonia are still in with a fighting chance, but if they follow recent NSC trends it might not be enough. xthink[/center:1t5zvcsr]

GROUP F:
-ro PRASIA
-lb FERVOROSIA
-au KOSTANOVIA
-ar BERCENILAND

Group F is another continentally varied group, though the nations featured are a bit more familiar than Group C. There is a very strong music scene to be found down under, so Australia will be a strong performer throughout this tournament. Romania has also seen a breakthrough in recent years, with its unique dance style catching in clubs all over Europe. Lebanese and Argentinian music is a bit of a mystery to me, but I don't know much :p

NSC-wise, this group is rather strong, with 4-victory Prasia representing the top8 pot, but Fervorosia and Kostanovia both being close to the top8 themselves. As a WLer, Berceniland is an unknown, but could well have the right formula for NSC :p It could be a very hard group to pass.

KOSTANOVIA
PRASIA

------------------------
FERVOROSIA
BERCENILAND

Kostanovia+Australia has the added benefit of being a case of representing their home country, so could be one to watch out for as the tournament progresses. Romania's successes in Prasia's hands leads me to predict them as the runnerup, while Fervorosia and Berceniland may be coming up short, with countries where I'm not so familiar with the music [/center:dfvmeovh]

GROUP G:

SCORPIONIA
-fr ECCLESTONIA

UGALY
-br VIRGOHRONIE

I'm starting to get the impression that the 2nd half of the groups will be much tougher than the first half  Fate seems to have done its best to make our NSC World Cup Groups as unvaried as possible, as here we don't just have South America twice, but also France twice  Brazil and Colombia have both produced decent musical exports, but France will naturally be the most familiar to NSCers here :p Our smallest collectivity New Caledonia may have trouble asserting itself amongst these giants...

Speaking of giants, although football giant Brazil is in this group, it's probably NSC giant Scorpionia who will be the expected favourite of Group G  Ecclestonia started their NSC career with a clear victory, but have had mixed results since, while poor Ugaly and Virgohronie have both become renowned at the other end of the scale. In their long history, Ugaly have had moments of huge success however, so there's still hope for Virgohronie; maybe the World Cup can be their first success! :D

[center:1d3y69u7]Pre-song Prediction:
SCORPIONIA
ECCLESTONIA

------------------------
VIRGOHRONIE
UGALY

Like all World Cup favourites, Scorpionia will have a lot of pressure and attention on them, and will be expected to go very far beyond the group stage :p Ecclestonia will probably follow on, unless they suffer some crisis like the French team in South Africa! Brazil may be up for football, but I'm not so sure about Virgohronie's chances, and Ugaly might be considered rank outsiders here, but who knows, New Zealand got close ;)[/center:1d3y69u7]

GROUP H:
kr.png
BOKIA
-en HOREHRONIELAND
-jp AMETAN
-us WALORIA

So, as our grand finale, we finish off with the group of death (according to me  ) I commented on this a bit yesterday; I'm quite certain USA and England make up the grand majority of the music we hear in NSC, and we see more and more Korean and Japanese music every edition too xD This will be a fun group for me to watch, if only Japan and England would meet up in a real world cup match sometime :p

With 3 victories, Bokia is a force to be reckoned with, but the other nations here are no pushovers. Waloria has rarely missed finals since their Qele days, and Horehronieland scored two top6 placings in their first 3 editions. Ametan could be considered a bit of an underdog here, but with its fanatic dedication to Japanese music, Ametan will know what it's doing with its chosen country :ugeek:

[center:1bx5w064]Pre-song Prediction:
WALORIA
HOREHRONIELAND

------------------------
BOKIA
AMETAN

I think it will be rather difficult for our Asian nations to overthrow the dominance of our English-speaking nations, which is a shame, because I think all four would be successful in any other group (such is the group of death  xD) Still, who knows what songs have been chosen? And yes, for all these predictions I've spammed tonight, it all depends on the songs![/center:1bx5w064]

I'd love to see other predictions too, would be fun to compare xD

i hope i won't have to change another banner.. they're ready :|

As an impartial witness I just have to say that if you accept the privilege and responsibility to host something like this then you shouldn't pull faces if you have to fix banners etc. And yes they changed name
