NSC: World Cup 4 in TZMBOD/Macchabis (is Back!)

Hi there!

I have discussed with Heiki put the World Cup in TZMBOD/Macchabis here on the new forum, since the Cup disapeared after the move from the "dead" forum. Since Heiki is busy in doing the Survivor show now, I proposed to finish the World Cup for him instead!

Heiki has given me the results of all the matchs of the qualification stage, but since he didn't have any complete result of the group I have now counted the results in each of the 10 groups and they looked like this :

Originaly, the top 2 in each group and the winners in the two matches of the 4 best third placed countries were qualified for the tournament!
However, Heiki and I decided to remove the countries that not comepetes in NSC anymore, giving the result that all top 3 countries (except the defunct countries) + the best 4th placed country (Gozitania) was decided to compete in the 4th annual NSC World Cup!

(We have also decided to allow Lyapunovia to compete, since they are on the waiting list + allowing a team from the Macchabis Island and not Maccha-Brugia, even if Maccha-Brugia is not a country in NSC anymore, the Island still remains on the NSC Map and is one of the hosts of the World Cup!)

Go GO Calypso!! Its been a very long preparation period! and now its time for the gamess
Asked for his comments about group A, the coach of our national team said that at this point, no group can be an easy one, yet he is very happy with our team and is very confident that we will make it to the next round. Having said that, he states that the first game against zombira is the hardest in the group.

Our group is tough, considering that the best qualified country, Scorpionia, is there and Kuki-Q (who, if my memory serves me well, beat us in the qualifier campaign). And we don't want to underestimate Blondania. We will do our best to do well!!! Our moto: "One for all, and all to the dumpster".

Match Day 1; Group A: Zombira - Calypso

A lot of people has come to see the first match in the world cup in TSZMBOD, A match between the host Zombira and Calypso. The sun is shining and the referee from Canedonia started the match. The first 10 minutes, the Calypsian team had the advantage but the first goal came from Zombira in the 25th minute, after a header from the forward. In the 37th minute, Calypso came back and scored 1-1, after a free-kick from the defensive midfielder. It only took one minute til Zombira answered and a new header from the forward got the host back in the lead again with 2-1.

In the 2nd half Calypso tried everything to get back in the game, and in the 70th minute, the offensive midfielder in Calypso scored 2-2, and after that the Zombirians was shocked and Calypso felt that they had a chance of winning the match and continued to attack. And in the 85th minute, the forward in Calypso scored the 3-2 goal at a volley and Zombira never manage to comeback.

Results:
Zombira 2 (25th, 38th)
Calypso 3 (37th, 70th, 85th)

Not a good start for the home country, but they are still matches left to be played for Zombira.

Match Day 1; Group A: Bokia - Fervorosia

A lot of Bokian fans have made it to TSZMBOD to the 2nd match of the day. The referee from Adamsburg started the game and it took til the 20th minute until Bokia scored the first goal in the match since the Fervorosian keeper saved a shot from the forward, but the return came to the Bokian offensive midfielder and 1-0 for Bokia. 34th minute and Fervorosia scored 1-1, after an amazing free-kick from the midfielder in the Fervorosian team.

The 2nd half started of boring, there none of the teams felt that they wanted to win, but in the 65th minute, got Bokia a penalty and the Fervorosian defender got the first red card in the tournament. The Bokian striker scored a good penalty, right in the down left corner and 2-1 for Bokia. The 80th minute and Fervorosia was back again and scored a header from the forward during the corner to 2-2. But then the one man less for Fervorosia was shown. In the 82th minute, Bokia easily scored 3-2 from the striker and in the 85th, he scored again, in the same way! Fervorosia didn't manage to come back and Bokia won with 4-2!

Captain of the national team said that it was a great game, one of hte best ever played in his life, after teh half time our team felt comfortable of getting a draw, and reaching that aim, fulfilled our players with courage and drove us to winning this hardest game in teh group. Go go !!!!

Match Day 1; Group B: Sillycone Valley - Viola Per Sempre

The first match played in Macchabis is between the former world champions Sillycone Valley and Viola Per Sempre. The referee comes from Ugaly. The first goal comes from the World Chapions, there Sillycones forward score 1-0 in the 22th minute. Viola Per Sempres defense were shaky the whole first half and it was definitly closer to 2-0 than 1-1 until the half was over.

2-0 came then in the 2nd half, by a free-kick from the forward in Sillycone Valley in the 57th minute. VPS started to come back in the game and in the 89th minute, they scored at a corner, The Violas were now working hard to get the equalizer. But instead the sillycones striked back with a counter-attack in the 94th minute, and scored the final score 3-1!

Results:
Sillycone Valley 3 (22nd, 57th, 94th)
Viola Per Sempre 1 (89th)

The world champions had a comfortable start in this tournament!

Match Day 1; Group B: Gozitania - Tír an Abhainn

The 2nd game in Macchabis was against the lucky 4th placer in the qualifications Gozitania and Tír an Abhainn. The referee in this match was from Comino. It only took 5 minutes til Gozitania scored their first goal, 1-0 after a surprise attack for the TAA-defense. TAA tried hard to get back in the match, while Gozitania didn't get back to the game at all and decided at the end of the first half to defend as much as possible.

It only took two minutes in the 2nd half til TAA scored 1-1, with a long shot from the right defender! 20 minutes later, 67th minute the TAA team dominated the game completly and scored 2-1 by the forward after a amazing cross from the right midfielder. It looked like TAA would win this, but a fast counter-attack in the 72th min from the offensive midfielder in Gozitania made 2-2 and suddenly they were tied again. TAA still dominated the game, but the Gozitanian defense is strong and managed to keep the draw until the final whistle.

Match Day 1; Group C: Scorpionia - Kuki-Q

The first match in group C is between the best country in the qualification round Scorpionia and Kuki-Q! The referee in the match comes from Swelatie. All the expectations for this match came out of nothing, since the teams only had one chances each in the first half. Boring...

The 2nd half both teams had more chances, for example a superb free-kick from the midfielder from Kuki-Q that the Scorpionian keeper saved and Scorpionian forward who had a header that hit the post. In 78th minute, the defender in Kuki-Q did a ugly attack on the Scorpionian forward in the penalty area. The Swelatian referee decided penalty for Scorpionia, and the other forward scored. It was the only goal in the match..that was utterly poor overall.

Match Day 1; Group C: Canedonia - Blondania

The last match of the day is between Canedonia and Blondania. A match there the Canedonians started off the best and was close to 1-0 in the 21st minute, but the Blondanian defense was enourmisly strong today. It was in the 41st minute, in a counter-attack from Blondania the first goal came, after a header from the Blondanian forward.

Canedonia tried everything to get back in the game, but still the Blondanian team really had found a way to stop the attacks from the Canedonians. In the end of the match, 92nd minute, the Blondanians did an another counter-attack and scored 2-0, with the same person as the scorer. Canedonia really have to find a better offensive play to have a chance in this tournament.

Match Day 2; Group D: Macchabis - Adamsburg

The first game in group D is between the 2nd host, Macchabis and Adamsburg! The referee comes from QuiénDQ. The Macchabis team started of very offensive to a start and had a lot of chances in the the first half, but the best chance had the Adamsburgish team with a header from the forward in the 43rd minute, that hit the post. No goals in the first half.

The match got extremly boring in the 2nd half, it seemed like both the teams were nervous and scared of doing mistakes. The Macchabis team had a strong defensive play, so the Adamsburgish team didn't get a single shot on goal during the whole 2nd half! The game came to an end, and even if the Macchabis team didn't really do very much than defense, the crowd were happy and were celebrating.

Poor effort of Adamsburg! We should at least scored one goal!

Match Day 2; Group D: Yaponesia - Eureka

The match between Yaponesia and Eureka was much more to watch than the match before. It only took ten minutes til the Halitian referee whistled penalty for Eureka, after the Yaponesian left back took the ball with his hand and got a yellow card. The Eurekan striker scored the penalty and 0-1 was the score. Yaponesia tried to break through the Eurekan defense, but it was much stronger than the Yaponesian one, that gave a lot of chances for the Eurekan forwards. Still 1-0 after half time.

In the 2nd half, Yaponesia still tried to go offensive, but still the Eurekan defense was really strong. In the 54th minute, a counter-attack shocked the Yaponesian defense and the offensive midfielder in Eureka could easily score 2-0. The Yaponesian players felt very hopeless and even if they tried to go even more offensive, you could see that they were not attacking in the same way. Eureka won a great win, and with a strong defense like this, they could be a strong contender to win the group
