Hm, I'm not against the idea of eliminating the PQs and doing it like in ESC - only the winner and since money doesn't control thе contest (yet) there's no big 4/5...

wow there really is no pleasing some people...
1. 2 semi's are to mirror ESC as there were complaints when we had one semi and ESC had two
2. Top 6 is something to aim for, a PQ makes you feel like you have won, 6 winners instead of 1 makes the contest as a whole much more fun
3. 44% Chance is not amazing, but could be worse too. If you were to increase to 3 semis, 17 participants in the semis with 7 qualifiers from each yields a
41% chance of winning and makes the whole change pointless.
4. Everyone does have a chance, come on i fail often. Last Edition i come top 6 and i'm really happy, If i can do it anyone can

This would unfortunately only worsens Luke's problem
By removing prequalifiers, we effectively add 5 more songs to the semis, so it would become more like 12 out of 28 qualifying.The current system is set up so that, with the anticipation of several nations withdrawing each edition, there would be around 23~24 nations in each semifinal. Obviously, this number can never be a guaranteed prediction, but it's designed to remain close to 50% qualification. As it happens, we are having a popular period in NSC at the moment, but in the past, we have had as few as 19 in each semifinal, so it does vary considerably, but it's nothing we can guarantee.
I'm personally a big fan of our current system, and agree with Martin, but suggestions are always welcome and interesting to hear

I support the removing of PQs personally and the "The current system works As Sean says often.. if it's ain't broke don't fix it." comment is totally lame and wrong. Sorry the life isn't mathematics where you either have something or not. In reality a system can be really broke, semi broke, somewhat working, working excellently and working even better (and all the other values between them). You can't define the system as working or not working, as it can always go better and always go worse than it is.... =it is always worth to consider new ideas.

This could also fall under democracy sucks but it is the best possible option. If you have a valid change that you think would benefit and encourage the contest feel free to write it. Rather than twist and debate a phrase i wrote, which is the least significant part of my post.
PQ's are there to allow for 1 major winner and 5 minor wins. It keeps the contest fun, exciting and a goal to aim for. Getting rid of them is going to cause a drop in moral in the contest.

Such a difficult semi to listen to, my mind is numb from all the blah.
