Yep, this was all pretty much as expected. Eya started off really strong, but then went a bit astray for me. Woman Show was a hot mess for most of the performance, but fun as heck. I'd have probably veered more towards Woman Show, We Come Alive and Oblivion being the qualifiers in the end, but Eya was okay too.

Myra and Fredrik were as bland and dull as expected.

Semi 2 will hopefully be a little better. Was it just me or did the sound mixing seem a bit off for a lot of the semi?

I am not really into any of the songs that have qualified. Margaret’s song is not strong enough (neither is her stylist), and the other two are just a NO.

I think Gothminister might have actually won this semi final. There is of course no way of actually knowing, but based on the reactions of people in the audience and in general what I have seen people writing after he qualified it seems like many quite enjoyed his performance. Which makes me happy since I felt a bit alone about liking it in the beginning xrose And I loved the storytelling in his performance!

I loved Margarets performance as well, but I wish there was not so much dark and grey colors in her performance. But apparently if what I have heard is true, her staging is kinda inspired by Pushwagner among other things, which I think is cool. If I could have decided I would have kept the overall staging, but instead of the grey and dark maybe add a bit more "popping" colors in the backdrop like Pushwagner used in some of his art. I think that could be really cool actually.

To be honest I wasn't entirely blown away by Oblivion, even though it was still my number two and I did enjoy it. It's certainly not better than IFYML. I think she's going to have a hard time winning the whole thing.

Also I keep thinking Margaret looked at Sweden's 2017 performance and said "can I steal your homework?" The performance and even the styling felt very reminiscent of "I Can't Go On".

My favourite was Gothminister, I also enjoyed Woman Show (which was really fun), but I'm not really impressed (I didn't listen to the songs before the show, and I think I will keep it that way for the next rounds. I'm no surprised y the qualifiers, it makes sense to me.

I love, love, love 'Oblivion'. The way the song subtly builds and then that beautiful note from Margaret near the end and then they they just let the music play with no vocals and then Margaret just joins in with the choreography. Yeah I love it.

I don't know why but every year Norway is one of those Eurovision countries where I either love or really dislike their entries, there's never an in -between. That's if 'Oblivion' does win btw.

And in hindsight ' I Feel You My Love' coming 4th at Eurovision in 2013, it deserved more.

I absolutely love "Oblivion" in a weird way (and I wasn't that fond of IFYML... Karin Park should have won in 2015 imo), but the live isn't that convincing. I thought she could deliver it better, and the staging/choreo isn't that impressive... I hope (I hope, I hope) it can be upgraded for the final.
Other two qualifiers as expected: I'm glad for Gothminister, not for that "Ela" ripoff. Even if "Woman Show" stage was a mess, it was a fun mess, at least.

Hege Bjerk winning MGP would've single handedly shifted us to a covidless alternate universe where only good things happen, though.

I really wasn't impressed by any of the entries, but pretty satisfied about those who went through - even though, overall, the concept of 'lyrics' doesn't really seem to be important…
I used to love the Norwegian NFs but find it's gotten more and more 'cheapish' production wise.

Yeah sadly NRK is not immune to higher costs either. They have had to do some budget cuts (not just in the entertainment section but all over) so as a consequence of that the semis are a bit scaled down this year, which I think is why they moved the production of the semi finals from H3 Arena in Oslo (which was used last year for the semi finals) to one of their own studios. But scaling down the semis hopefully means they are saving the big confetti canons for the final when they go to Trondheim Spektrum with 8000 people in the audience xdance2xcheer I tried to get a ticket but by the time my lazy ass had decided to give it a go it was sold outxcry
