So NRK has revealed that starting fom this year artists will be able to use autotune if they so wish in NMGP.
Ridiculous decision, makes the whole thing a scam really. If not even the singing is live anymore what the hell is the point of doing a live song competition?
Kinda wish this leads to a terrible live singer being chosen and proceeeding to absolutely humilliate NRK and Norway live in May so the decision is immediately overturned. If that doesn't happen, I wouldn't be shocked to see the EBU adopting the same rule in the near future under the pretense that national broadcasters are doing the same thing anyway in their NF's.

^ so you mean adding autotune effects to their live mics? That sounds confusing and could result in a car crash tbh, but hopefully it won't sway the results too much. Check me all optimistic this early in the season

I only read a translation someone made from a Norwegian article, but it made it seem like any artist could willingly use autotune on the show, even if it wasn't to mimic effects of the studio version. Hopefully that translation was wrong, but I don't think so

after watching this video and then hearing all snippets on twitter (partly twice) again,i'm not really impressed!
but i have taken a choice!
last year,i was "team hammer of thor" and was destroyed by a silly banana - this year i am
team sandra lyng — drøm d bort!
this is a fine song with ethno elements.

I see the similarities there. :) I was a HoT supporter, too. But the lyrics in the chorus were more advanced than in Sandra Lyng's song. ;)

Really loving this batch of songs. Sound and production is also top notch.

Grats to MGP boss Stig Karlsen. He's really lifting the competition.

I also agree with the use of Autotune. It's not about the singing (monitor trouble, nerves) as much as the song.

Let's make Eurovision a taped radio show then, if it's about the song.

Queen of Kings is out in some parts of the world now. It's only 2:30 minutes roughly and not apparently as impressive in full. Tresko is also out and under 2:15. If someone could make a file for those songs if they can access them for others it would be appreciated. They are both geo-blocked.

Tumblr, mostly.
I heard both (can't link from my phone tho)

Queen of the Kings is great, lol. I mean, it's Run for the hills, what else did you expect. It IS short (too short?), So it's less epic but those 30 seconds can be spent on a dance break or something.

I fucking LOVE Tresko. It's "Drip" on fentanyl, definitely not for everyone but i love its experimental hip hop ass that the blandtasted Norwegians are going to chuck on a bonfire at first sight.

Winner of NMGP 2023

hmm I like this quite a bit actually, it seems very 'Eurovision' by definition and I find the massive instrumental 'explosion' after the first chorus horrendously obnoxious as hell but overall It's a pretty strong entry I think.
