Oh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh

Not sure I told you, but I really like your teeth
That hairy coat of yours with nothing underneath
Not sure you have a name, so I will call you Keith
Oh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
See where you're going, but I don’t know where you've been
Is that saliva or blood drippin' off your chin?
If you don’t like the name Keith I'ma call you Jim
Oh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh

And before that wolf eats my grandma
Give that wolf a banana
Give that wolf
And before that wolf eats my grandma
Give that wolf a banana
Give that wolf
Give that wolf (Banana)

Yum, yum, yum, yum-yum-yum
Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum-yum-yum
Yum, yum, yum, yum-yum-yum
Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum-yum-yum
Banana

I like the scent of every meal on your breath
That hunger in you, I'm in danger now, I guess
Let's go to grandma's, you say grandma tastes the best
Oh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh

And before that wolf eats my grandma
Give that wolf a banana
Give that wolf
(I want your grandma, yum, yum)
And before that wolf eats my grandma
Give that wolf a banana
Give that wolf
Give that wolf
Someone give that wolf a banana

Yum, yum, yum, yum-yum-yum
Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum-yum-yum
Someone give that wolf a banana
Yum, yum, yum, yum-yum-yum
Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum-yum-yum
Someone give that wolf a banana

Ba-na-na
Ba-na-na-na-na
Ba-na-na
Ba-na-na-na-na

And before that wolf eats my grandma
Give that wolf a banana
Give that wolf
(I want your grandma, yum, yum)
Someone give that wolf a banana
And before that wolf eats my grandma
Give that wolf a banana
Give that wolf
Give that wo-o-olf

Yum, yum, yum, yum-yum-yum
Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum-yum-yum
Someone give that wolf a banana
Yum, yum, yum, yum-yum-yum
Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum-yum-yum
Someone give that wolf a banana

Not sure I told you, but I really like your teeth
That hairy coat of yours with nothing underneath
Not sure you have a name, so I will call you Keith

This morning I decided to give my impressions of the Barcelona Pre Party 2022 and the singers who performed there.

Aside from the fact that the Pre Party stage wasn't great (it's something that can be accepted in a pre-contest), I personally found the sound system terrible. The amateur quality audio did not help the singers express themselves at their best nor did the public enjoy the songs as best they could.

The Pre Party was interesting because, as I expressed in the San Marino thread, it shows the strengths and weaknesses of the singers and their songs.

These opening lines will be the same for all pre-party attendee threads. It's a kind of preface.

Now let's talk about the Subwoolfer and "Give That Wolf a Banana". Assuming that I love Subwolfer and they are part of my Top 10, at the pre contest they did a homework. A good performance but a lot of energy and emotions that I glimpsed from the Norwegian NF and in the video they were not there (perhaps due to the low potential of the stage and the sound system). However, beyond all limits, I can say that the song is solid and that of all the participants Subwoolfer were the only ones to make the most of all the scenic options they had available. "Give That Wolf a Banana" is a song that thrives on extreme emotions and entertainment that, although it can hold up a small live concert, needs a stage to help it shine as it deserves. I see a lot of potential. The Subwoolfer are confirmed as valid candidates to win the Eurovision Song Contest 2022.

I don't know what to think about it anymore

I went from
- " it's alright " at first listen, ranking it between 15 and 20
to
- "give that wolf a banana" putting in my top 10

and now i'm conflicted, it feels pretentious and trying too hard to be "the act" but at the same time if it wasn't 100% people would say "they don't go all the way with it".

All the details about being from the moon, needing an interpretator and what not it crosses the line of being too much for me. I can't connect to it anymore because it lacks spontaneity and "vulnerability" in some sort, like can we hear you both talking about the idea, and why this song, being just yourselves the creators behind Subwoolfer. It feels like they became the characters they created and they no longer exists as individuals and what makes me connect to an artist is having a glimpse about the professional part, the act, and what is needed to bring the act on stage.

besides that i'm really wondering if this is gonna be the fanflop of the year. Personally, I don't think so but my BF, mum, best friends didn't like it and I'm on a music discord not related to the ESC and basically everybody disliked the song, the act, everything, when we talked about the acts this year and it was surprising. I shared my top 10 elsewhere on a kpop discord where I thought people would liked it there and they all were praising Moldova instead of Norway being okay-ish.
I mean it's just a sample of people and not the whole Europe but damn.

Performance @ London Eurovision Party

Maybe I am being skeptical, I am pretty sure those 'live" vocals are pre-recorded. I recall the performances they did in the MGP, you can tell their voices wavering when doing the routine. But here, it sound so perfect.

It's either playback or they had a filter on their voice. But those are not their raw voices.

I'm more inclined to think it's pre-recorded live vocals, the famous trick that is rampant in the late noughties and early 2010s.

All you need is to compare their vocals with the rest of the artists who sang "live" in the same event, you can hear the distinction. Because theirs are very clear and crisp, I believe a filter wouldn't be able to take away breathing and such.

At this point, no matter how much I adore GTWAB and the guys, I am a bit tired of their show. Eurovision is glutted now with their shenanigans and they should stop to keep the mystery. I like the fun stuff they‘re doing (like their memes and all that stuff) but the weird interviews with the interpreter and the hand gestured and jumping… just no. After all it’s a MUSIC (composers) event and not a late night show.

Fifth song listened to. The most engaging and fun performance yet. I saw the public singing, dancing, laughing and very involved in the show. Subwoolfer are great performers. I am in love with these two wolves who seem like the "Blues Brothers of space" to me 😍😄 The corrography was good, obviously there were some points that flowed less smoothly, but overall, I repeat, I liked it and enjoyed it. The choice not to burden the staging with the dancers was excellent (they would have limited the space and consequently the performance of the two wolves). Norway, even if for many it has brought a joke entry, has all the credentials to conquer the success and recover the revenge after the questionable defeat of KEiiNO.

I don't know how I feel about this. I can see why people like it. The production is good. But the whole thing comes off as very calculated. It's just not funny imo. I also feel like the era of these type of joke acts at Eurovision is slowly coming to an end. It feels like the contest is becoming more serious. I gave this 2 points because of the production. I wouldn't mind if they stay in the SF.

What joke entries would you compare this to?

Travel to all these parties just to playback. That makes them only do their silly dance in front of some people. Call me old-fashioned, but to me it's disrespectful to both the public and the other artists.

I like their song but I really don’t get what’s funny about re-enacting the singers’ choreography one by one in a yellow wolf outfit. Really, what’s the point? It’s such a dated humour.

I'm really starting to get banana fatigue. This song will likely drop out of my Top 10 soon, mostly due to a mix of me overplaying it in the early days but also due to the fact that I'm getting a bit bored of the performance. It's very polished a choreographed to the point of being monotonous - we need a bit more of the sassy off-the-cuff humour they're displaying online to come through in their performance. Don't try to be as perfect with the moves.

This problem occurs when a song is released before the event. If the Eurovision Song Contest had been with a national NF, I am sure that the Subwoolfer would have surprised everyone and would have had a lot of chances of winning. The problem is that the Eurovision Song Contest is "a musical marathon": the song that manages to keep its strength intact until the main event wins.

However, even though I see fatigue for Subwoolfer, I do see an overestimation of Circus Mircus and Konstrakta. If "Give That Wolf a Banana" tires us due to repetitiveness, logically we should also get tired of "In Corpore Sano" and "Lock Me In" whose sounds are on the verge of wildest weirdness.

I believe that Subwoolfer will be able to capture the interest of the public again. Their song has great potential. Obviously, the live show must be perfectly curated.
