To be honest, I don't know why alot of you people are so unhappy when artists choose to sing in English. If the concern is because the English lyrics will be badly written, then sure, it could dampen the listening experience. But a good song is still a good song at the end of the day regardless which language the song is sung in. I just find it a little ridiculous when people just like the song because it's in the native language and when it was sung in English in the end then they dislike it.

To add to what Hayashi said, I like it when artists sing in their native language because it strikes my interest more. I like the sounds of foreign languages, we're not used to it, it breaks the monotony, it adds a lot of charisma, hence these songs instantly get a bonus point from me. It doesn't mean I insta-like a song because it's not English, neither I only like non-English songs, but it helps.

And, I really don't see the point of switching to English. I feel like I'm repeating myself every year but it's not because a song is in English that it will appeal to more people because of the lyrics. Unless you live in a Nordic country, do you really think casual viewers are good enough at English to understand what is sung ? lmao let me tell you, no. Not only it's more difficult to understand a language when it's sung, but most also have only a passable level, just enough to have a small-talk conversation.

So yeah, when artists compete with songs in their native language, and then switch to English for the final (hello Iceland), then it makes me roll my eyes like you would never imagine. And most of the time, yes, it downgrades the song for me, because I lost an appeal-factor.
Seems the only exception was - gasp - Iceland last year where I liked the English version more.

Emmy will have to work extremely hard to work that performance in the finals if she wants to win the contest. While her song is interesting, she is too static as a performer. I am largely disappointed when I saw her performance as before going into the heats I really enjoy her studio cut.

I really think it's KeiiNo to lose at this point. While there are many good songs in the finals, but as an overall package, they are the best once they fix the staging. Raylee comes close because from the overall package, hers is really polished except she needs to work on her vocals. As for the others, I just really can't see and think of any reason for them winning perhaps except TIX who I believe is popular in the country?

The good thing with TIX's song is that it was originally written in English (and probably Stavwhateverband also did as well?), so we can expect at least a lyrically decent song at the Grand Final.

It's just an absurd decision to register some pre-qualified songs in Norsk while promising "a diverse-sounding show", then allowing them to change language into English at the Grand Final. Stig kind of cheated with his own expectations and I find that uncomfortable.

This is the most common and annoying LIE all these acts come up with as a sort of defense-mechanism against fans who are disappointed that they sell out to English (when the original track wasn't). In majority of these cases, the tracks weren't "originally written in English", it's just convenient BS they throw out there.
