Re: NORWAY 2019

What makes you say that? I mean there were already some 'upsets' in national finals.

Like Ester Peony, who had her odds at 5% of winning and still won. The odds weren't in S!sters' favor too...

Any NF with an international jury is going to have whack results due to how small the international music industry is and how tempting it is to rig votes in favour of the home country.

Having said that, KEiiNO is a borderline qualifier at best, so if anything the voting should benefit them. Unless Morland pulls some epic staging, I expect him to be downvoted instead.

People getting worried about the "curse". There is no curse. It's just countries voting for what they want instead of what Eurovision fans demand. But in this case, I can see no way that Keiino don't win. People's choice, broadcaster's choice.

Somewhere in the middle. I think it's cliche and cheesy. At the same time though it's catchy for sure, even if in a silly way. I find it no worse than the cheesy pop from Jon Henrik Fjällgren. In fact, I find it much better. I wouldn't call myself a fan, but I don't mind it at least, and I get why people love it so much. I'd feel happy for those that like it if it won.

Still somehow though Keiino place 3rd in my ranking here. I found this a very poor selection. Fake It and Mr. Unicorn are the only songs I don't mind (though the latter is kind of losing it's appeal for me). I want Hank Von Hell to win. His song gives me Andrew W.K. vibes, so I was naturally attracted to it. It would be nice to have one rock entry this year. A rock song at Eurovision that doesn't make me cringe and want to remove my ears being quite the added bonus also. I'd quite happily take it.

Re: NORWAY 2019

lol He's Okay with it, like he is with KEiiNO.

Hank von Hell isn't my fave but would make a satisfying winner because glam rock would be so different from anything else we'll be getting this year.

I can see why you and others enjoy his music.. just about. For me the plainer in style you go with this cheesy kind of folk-pop fusion, the more unbearable it gets for me. I've always found Jon's songs dull and tacky. Spirit In The Sky is at least fun and doesn't float around in the middle of nowhere. I'm somehow surprised you hate it so much.

For sure Hank would stand out. It would be kind of an uncomfortable upset though to witness. I have a feeling fans will be most loud if something goes wrong with Norway. I'd feel kind of bad if this ends up the one NF to grant me a favourite song winning this year. It probably won't happen anyway but I don't think he's absolutely without a chance here.

I really don't like color of her vocals..
Composition structure and his rough joiks...
I ind this 100% soulless... :)

Her vocals aren't my thing either, and I get you feeling that it's soulless. It does feel very much like it's made with a purpose. It's like they were thinking "let's take all the stuff Eurovision fans love and throw it into one song". What stops me from hating it I think is how infectious it is. I would award a 5 or 6 to it in the poll if it won.

Spirit in the sky exists for guiltless enjoyment only. Succumb to it? You'll feel better if you do.

Re: Hank von Hell a lot of fans appear to be sleeping on him, which is odd considering that rock and metal songs usually do very well in MGP. I can easily see "Fake it" in the Silver, if not the Gold Final

I can see how Keiino would not win; with shaky or bad live vocals. And/or a messy performance. One thing is the studio versions of a song; that most eurofans judge the songs by long before the live final versions. Another thing is being a televoter seeing and hearing the act for the very first time; being non-biased (if that is possible). I would probably say that is what happened in Germany last nigh.

A good thing with the norwegian NF this year (apart from the fact that I like it way better than I've done in several years) is that we have no obvious voting-magnets. Last year we had Alexander Rybak with a cringeworthy song - but norwegians were positively biased towards the artists even before hearing the song. The same thing I claim happened when Agnete represented us back in 2016. I think she was the main reason why people voted for Icebreaker - and not the song itself.

So - my guess is that Keiino will go to Tel Aviv.

Re: NORWAY 2019

can i take this moment to note that the soul of a song is, too, incredibly subjective? i think soirit in the sky has a lot of soul, while "soulful" fan faves such as tous les deux are very empty to me. sometimes it's just not for us lol.

I like the things you dislike about the song!
I love Alexandras voice!
But the highlight of the song is the second part of the bridge - when Fred's joik is getting really rough!
Soulless? Maybe so... I am sure this wasnt meant to be anything but a fun, danceable beat! And for me it sure is!

No. But I might vote for them NEXT Saturday. ;) Haven't actually heard the entries yet tho, but from what I've read, I think there's a chance they'll be my favorite too. :)

Got scared for a second there tho, thought I had forgotten about our NF.
