By FAAAR the most overrated song this year... I can't get why this would be a runaway winner? It's a decent ballad that isn't cliché in the ESC sense... but a big winner?

Well, exactly because it's not cliche, I think it stands a big chance to win. Not to mention it has the best lyrics this year and that may not matter to televoters but it will to juries.
Noone knows for sure who will win, of course, but my gut feeling says that after the impressive shows that won in the last few years (dancers, golden rain, violins, etc), people will turn to something simpler and more meaningful.

I just listened to all 37 songs and the only song I wanted to come back to and listen again was this one. It's the only song that every time I listen to it, it makes me feel different...a masterpiece it is.

The Performance at national final rather weak for me, especially the beginning of the song,
That's why I didn't get the hype

The recording version awesome though
My favorite this year

By the hype, the song started to like less and less... But now, I like again. Ok, I'm not crazy, but I think it's a bit overrated. It's a great song, but he needs to improve, IMO.

I see a ghost in the official video. I guess it's the person who throws the papers. xcrazy

No it is not overrated: It is kept simple, but it is intensiv and very emotional.

That's the problem. He DOESN'T transmit these emotions. For example, the vocals of Axel from Belgium are so much better than Carl's. I prefer 'Silent Storm' if we bear in mind the songs, but vocals...

You can't compare a ballad like Mother that HAS to have emotion in the performance with a balllad like Silent Storm. If Carl performed this song like Axel, it would kill its meaning for me.
Silent Storm is about being defeated and desperate with nothing to hold on to except some vague hope. Mother has that hope in the presence of the mother.
In a few words..Axel has his guiding light and his shelter in front of him. Carl doesn't. I think they're both excellent in conveying exactly what their songs are about.

Very good running order for Norway between Israel and Georgia. Carl will win the semifinal :)

In-between a powerful uptempo song (gives good contrast) and a hot mess of a song that will make  seem like a masterpiece in comparison xheya

A little disappointed with our start position. Don't think we have a chance with a ballad like this among the first 5-6 songs. I'm not an opptimist this time. :(
I see some of you are bigger opptimists than I am. Great, but i don't believe in it before i see it. :)

Don't forget that yours is the only ballad in this semi except Austria. Even if it was an average ballad (which isn't!), you'd still qualify, at the very least.

The draw isn't great but I don't doubt Norway's ability to qualify

Nothing to add xup though it looks like you're implying Silent Storm is not a masterpiece. How dare you?!

(oh god, I sound like a typical fanboy right now)
