According to Dutch newspapers and websites such as De Telegraph and Mediacourant, Dutch broadcaster TROS who has taken over from NOS the responsibilities for matters concerning the Eurovision Song Contest has decided to grant only a few accreditations to carefully selected media for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest 2010 in Oslo.
All other Eurovision journalists' requests have simply been rejected due to the negative reporting on Sieneke's selection and her participation at the Eurovision Song Contest. The TROS wants to control what is going to be reported about the Eurovision Song Contest from Oslo.
In a statement issued by TROS it says that they decided for a strong limitation of who would be granted an accreditation to this event. The Head of Press from TROS, Ms. Birgit Jansens said :" It is as well for Sineke as for the TROS the first time and we wants to protect Sieneke as we do not want her to be in front of 30 cameras being interviewed in Oslo."
Weeks ago TROS sent out an invitation to the usual distribution list of journalists in the Netherlands covering the Eurovision Song Contest on location to apply for the accreditation already including information about hotels in Oslo, bus services, and up-front information about the show for members of the Press and Media.
Based on this many journalists have began booking their accommodation and the transportation. Ms. Jansen stated that: "It is not very nice for these people, but we have always reserved the right to refuse the accreditation"
The Dutch Bureau for the Press ANP is allowed to send one photographer only. Further accreditations were granted to two Dutch newspapers, the regional TV Station Gelderland and website editors of the TROS website. Last year the NOS accepted over 60 requests fro accreditations.
