I can't explain it but there's something going on
A crazy energy inside of me
First just a tingle, then it turned into a burn
Like fire in my blood

And now I hear my body talk, talk, talk
A taste is all, all I need
And I'm about to climb the walls
No way I'll be alone tonight

Come over, come over
I'm over doing without you
Come over, come over
Hey lover, give me some sugar

Got me addicted, so you can't take it away
Get me all satisfied

And now I hear my body talk, talk, talk
A taste is all, all I need
And I'm about to climb the walls
No way I'll be alone tonight

Come over, come over
I'm over doing without you
Come over, come over
Hey lover, give me some sugar

Just took a little kiss to show how I was missing out
Compared to you no other [?] thing to brag about
Your lips are hot and sweet, I feel it to my knees
Now I want only one sugar, sugar on my tongue
I need your kisses baby, gotta keep 'em coming
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh

Sugar

I haven't listened to a song in advance this year and I just had a good feeling about that song. It brings back a bit of a club feeling. I also found the "instrumental chorus" pretty catchy. By the way, I would have found anything with ice cones like in the video totally unnecessary and negative, the performance was completely sufficient for the song in that context. I didn't really notice that a few parts sounded wrong. I noticed that she only moves relatively stiffly, but she is really pretty and has a sweet smile - with 26 appearances, as a man, something like that is completely remembered... And that was ultimately the reason why I voted for her. It's that simple.

But there are a lot of Gastarbeiters in Czechia, e.g. from the Ukraine. But a vote for the Ukraine would have been natural, given the high quality of the song (subjective, I know)...even I have voted for Ukraine several times. I would never get the idea of voting for Moldova, and I guess the average Czech spectator would neither...
I believe we gave some points to Ukraine as well but as you said that's not shocking because not only is there a large Ukranian minority, the song is also very popular and I've seen many Czechs say they like it. Those points make sense.

Moldova on the other hand has not been mentioned by any Czechs anywhere from what I've seen and there's no reason why so many people would vote for it. The way how it got many 12 points and then nothing from other countries is also suspicious.

Some weird voting results. As Eurosong.dk writes:
"In the semifinal on Thursday, Moldova received 12 points from as much as 8 countries, including Estonia, Latvia, Serbia and Greece. Two days later everything has changed in those four countries. Now Moldova doesn't receive a single point - they are suddenly not even close to being in the Top 10. In Estonia, Moldova ends up 19th, in Serbia 22nd, in Greece 21th. Why did Moldova get so many televotes in the semi? And how come that support had disappeared completely just two days later?"

I think this amount of statistical anomalies is beyond any "organic" explanation now. I don't have anything against genuine supporters of Sugar or against Natalia herself. But I am sorry, as far as I am concerned, someone truly must've tried to rig things for Moldova this year.

Had this only happened in my country - fine, I'd eventually say I probably just know our taste worse than I thought I did. But having this almost unparalelled amount of :12:s in the semi only to have it evaporate down to :0:s in many countries in the final (not a :12: -> :4: or :5: -> :0:, but straight out :12: -> :0:),.. I just don't really buy it, sorry.

I am excited for the audit results and possible consequences already.

I have a question about the countries where she got high public votes: are there a maximum authorised number of votes for one phone number? Because maybe some people just kept spamming voting lines (which seems to me incredible unless they have a lot of money because in France one vote is 1€). To me she dropped on France votes in F because there are many more public watching and votes (see for example 2019 with Islande 1st in our SF voting) and really strong diaspora votes for Italy, Israel and Portugal (I was happily surprised by our 12pts to Ukraine) but even if there is no proof that something is wrong I really can't understand how an act absolutely nobody talked about and with no usual diaspora vote achieved that result.

We have a maximum of 20 votes per number, each vote is 0.5€. I don't believe there's that many people who vote here (I'd guess 10k max, given the low ratings?), plus it's really easy to buy a pre-paid simcard or two :).
I think 1500-2000€ should largely be enough to boost someone to get the :cz: :12:. Not exactly cheap, but perhaps not all that expensive either.

I wonder how much the TV stations would say a place in the final is worth? My guess is at least 50,000 euros if you take all from prestige to number of viewers into account.

Are Moldovans actually happy about how they got represented in Eurovision? How come that such a divided country sends so many Transnistrians to Eurovision?

Are they fine with pink and flamboyant staging and effeminate backup dancing?

I'm not sure about Moldovans but Kirkorov sure is very happy. His next year's song presentation will be at least half an hour longer than this year for sure!

Some new dope for people who want to see connections at any cost:

When Natalia represented Moldowa for her first time, Lordi won.
Now she‘s done it again! She‘s the reason another rock-group won this year!
This can’t be a coincidence!

You guys are talking about fishy televoting results. But the results from the jury are not that logical either.

Juror A from Poland: Moldova 2/16 in semi, 24/26 in final
Juror D from San Marino: 5/16 in semi, 18/25 in final
Juror A from Albania: 5/16 in semi, 25/25 in final

How is that possible? Mainly the first and the last juror. It really seems that in the semi some jurors rated Moldova obviously way too high.

Firstly, Kirkorov probably paid for everything (including the fee to Eurovision).

Also, Moldova's current government (and parliament) is pro Russia, I cross my fingers that with the upcoming election this camp will lose their majority, but they are super corrupted and cheating constantly (and with a little help from their Mother Russia they might "win" again), and the national broadcaster is ultimately under the control of the government so there is no surprise here really.

Yes this is very strange. With the Albania one, how do you think it's last in the final, when you at least thought it was better than 5 other songs from that semi final (who were also in the final)???

What has politics got to do with it?

Moldova from my understanding is ethnically majority Romanian and many Moldovans take advantage of that because they have a Romanian passport and travel the EU. The other side of Moldova is the secluded, self-governing, but internationally not recognized Transnistria, which for some reason gets to represent Moldova year after year for some reason.

I get that Russia is interested in sustained relations with Transnistria / Moldova, just for the sake to piss off Ukraine and the EU, but that doesn't explain for me how Moldovans feel about their representation in Eurovision, when most of them would not consider themselves Russians but Romanians.

In my opinion, Moldova is just one of those countries of which I don't get why they even exist in the first place.

Find 3 difference with Ukraine 2008 ;)
womanmagazine_news_193255.jpg
Oh, memories, back then I hated Ukraine so much for their slutbops and ruining Eurovision, now they are serving Jamala and Shum.

Three differences:

Shady lady is the better bop
Shady lady dancers are hotter than Sugar dancers
Shady lady staging and props are better than Sugar staging

It goes to show that Moldova is now a second-rate Ukraine of the 2000's

Even 10k sounds too high. My guess its actually extremely easy to top the televote in a country like Czech Republic.

In 2010 Turkish broadcaster revealed the number of calls the top 10 countries received. Maybe someone knows how much 1 vote did cost back then in Turkey and how many people watched Eurovision there, so we have some comparison.
Maybe that article is still online so anyone can prove I dont make things up. Otherwise you just have to believe these numbers. So these are the number of votes for the top 10 in Turkey in 2010:

Semi:
13.352Azerbaijan12 Points
3.422Georgia10 Points
3.071Armenia8 Points
1.040Romania7 Points
829Ukraine6 Points
560Bulgaria5 Points
483Sweden4 Points
434Danmark3 Points
403Israel2 Points
389Netherlands1 Points

Final:
58.474Azerbaijan 12 points
11.154Armenia 10 points
10.787Germany 8 points
6.393Georgia 7 points
4.716Greece 6 points
4.627Bosnia & Herzegovina 5 points
4.225France 4 points
3.882Romania 3 points
3.464Ukraine 2 points
2.779Albania 1 points
