Destiny isn't playing the victim. She IS being the victim. Wearing an outfit that is considered hideous by many is not an excuse for being fatphobic to her.

You all saying she is "playing the victim" just proves her tweet. You can say that the majority is about the outfit etc etc etc but if the oppressive comments exist, whether it is from the majority or not, a discussion is worth being started.

Fatphobic comments hurt. They can trigger many disorders. Don't banalize their negative impact on someone, whether it is directly (impact on Destiny) or indirectly (on any fat eurovision fan who is gonna read hateful comments about fat people).

Yet I stand by the opinion that to me she didn’t look very confident in that SHORT SNIPPET. We all know things will change and surely the whole performance will be different from that 30 seconds. I‘m not judging anything but that short clip.

If she really feels comfortable - awesome! I wish she does because I love her!
I just wished she would get rid off the skinny dancers and really show powerfully that she stands for self-acceptance.

But for now, all I can see is a shy girl who is reluctant on stage, needing her sidekicks instead of shining herself.

I think we shouldn't shoot Destiny for posting how she feels. Who knows she did get tonnes of comments about her weight/body shape for donning the outfit from all forms of social media and privately?

Yes, you guys can argue that maybe majority of the comments are mostly on the outfit choice not her body shape, but sometimes the vocal minority comments can still affect. You just need one or two nasty comments to make you feel shit.

well true but she is in the music industry and she has to get used to it, haters will always exist, Hurricane also get backlash for having botox, black artists also get backlash for being black and representing a European country, Elena gets backlash for singing about El Diablo and not being from Cyprus, Ana for being religious etc. it's just the way it is, which doesn't make it right, but the sooner you accept it the better for your mental health

I fully agree with your sentiment but yet again the whole situation is made into something bigger than it needs to be. I don't think one ugly outfit should be the starting point for a discussion about societal issues regarding beauty standards. Yes there are rude assholes that need to shut the fuck up. But this is not how you make them shut up.

Right now it's just turning into another divisive argument. Don't dismiss the people that just talked about the outfit and nothing else. Nuance matters or we end up with two camps "The looks is stunning house down boots yas empowering" or "stupid fatphobes".

I'm dismissing people who said she is playing a victim card when she is a victim of fatphobia. it doesn't truly matter if it's a minority or a majority because 1. nobody here works at an internet census to define if those comments are majority or not 2. the main point is there is fatphobia to a significant extent, so there is an issue.

agree. people don't react to hate in the same way. as long as she is not violating any laws, it shouldn't be a problem.

First I noticed the like/dislike ratio is 8.5K/5.6K - i was shocked, cuz her first rehearsal went well, but then I went down to the comments section. People only care about her dress, almost bullying her into changing it.

The first comment you see "That staging crashed harder than the US stock market" and overall you almost couldn't find a single positive comment.

I really hope poor young Destiny doesn't check the comments on her rehearsal video.

I also preferred the first dress, even though I wasn't exactly in love with it... I mean, wear what you want to wear girl, whatever you feel comfortable in, you're very pretty... However imo the televote could get improved at least at little with a slightly different wardrobe choice.
As for the staging - from what I've seen so far, I think it leaves a lot to be desired - not that one should be mean about expressing such opinion of course.
