I get Netta vibes after her rehearsal back then, it was quite the same like now with Malta (a lot of negative feedback). The expectations are always very high if u're 1st place with the betting odds. I like it and im sure they'll improve til the 2nd rehearsal.

I think that some people waited the rehearsal only to celebrate because she is not going to win but when you are first in odds people have way too high expectations that it's almost impossible to fulfill.

I agree with expectations and whatnot, but in that case, the visuals are completely off (at least for me). I think that even people who didn't like the song wouldn't have imagined the Maltese would come up with THAT.

Why didn't they get inspiration from the MV? They could have done so much with a vintage-y swag-y atmosphere, some glitter here and there, a prop of two, and a warmer colour scheme with beiges, browns, purples, reds... Judging by the staff's shirts, pink is Destiny's signature hue, but there is just too much of it on stage right now imo. It doesn't suit the song to me.

But Netta was a clear favourite by far, her song stood out and the only possible contender was Cyprus because of the really good impression from the rehearsals. This year is really tied between a bunch of countries and staging will be really important because of that fact. (To me Netta's staging wasn't good at all but I fully understand why she won.)

Je me Casse is not my favourite entry this year. So I do not think it was my high expectations that has lead to my jawn dropping when seing Destiny's rehearsal. Everything seems wrong here; the backdrop (I expect this to be a lot more colourful later on), the pink colour, and oh those clothes....

This is the most egregious exploitation of the prerecoreded vocals we've seen so far. Apparently the whole refrain of the song doesn't count as lead vocals for some reason so she doesn't even need to sing the actual hook. This rule needs to be abolished ASAP

I don't think she was framed at all. People are overreacting. Literally the only thing we have seen is that she is wearing pink and can sing AMAZINGLY live.

The boots being awkward etc will be ironed out.

I think the average Eurovision fan is going to judge Destiny harsher because she is/was the favourite in the odds, meanwhile the average viewer will probably love the entry

I am sorry but I don't think Destiny would ever choose outfits like that for the most important show so far in her career. It feels it was just pushed upon her and she didn't have any say in it. (I might be wrong it's just how I feel). She also looks a bit uncomfortable on stage.

And if they are really going for the whole female empowerement theme it seems even more baffling why would they dress them in this...pink mess.

I mean the odds definitely aren't helping, it raises expectations. I didn't like the song from the start, but I expected a spectacle on the stage and they served me spoiled strawberry milk. :/

The average viewer doesn't give a fuck about the odds, which is why several entries with bad odds have done incredibly well in the televote many times, Poland 2016 for example

Honestly, that performance doesn't look as bad as a lot of people seem to say. But as there wasn't a really clear favorite to win, it was obvious staging and live performance in general would be crucial to determinate the winner.

And this just doesn't do it for me. The staging and performance is cute, but it isn't a winner's performance. Destiny is cute, but she doesn't seem to be a winner, she lacks stage presence and charisma, and I kinda felt that already in her only performance of All Of My Love last year. We'll see ! But if France, Italy or Switzerland pull through, this could be the death of Malta's chances of winning.

I understand that SJB had less time to work on Malta's staging but that's super lazy. Destiny deserved better. The stage looks awfully empty (when Netta's staging looked a bit overwhelming, that's another difference between them). The outfit is not ugly but that color doesn't do her justice.

Tbh I don't know if this is the "favourite dropping" effect that doesn't actually affect the chances of the song winning but I'd rather not play with fire if I were Malta's delegation. That staging needs improvement.

The biggest problem with this staging is that it is not bad, but it is not a show-stopping great winning performance either. I'm so disappointed they didn't go for a videoclip inspired staging as @tuorem pointed out. This poppy hip staging doesn't fit the song at all as they should have gone for something more retro yet contemporary.

I'm forcing myself to like it because I'd like to see Malta do well but I'm honestly not sure why they ever went for this

And she's done it again!!! Looks like SJB's other clients paid more money (Albania perhaps) coz it doesn't look like Malta was her main priority.

The biggest mistake was giving her a Britney mic instead of a normal one she can hold. It would've added some swagger to her delivery. WHen she doesn't have hand choreo to do, she doesn't know what to do with her hands.

I pity Destiny to be honest. The delegation has once again made the wrong decision by hiring SJB. I'm not a big fan of the song, but I can get behind Destiny and her win if the staging is impressive and elevates the song. But so far, it just doesn't look impressive. Destiny can only do so much if she's not dancing. The outfit is so unflattering on her and that's nothing to do with her size. They could have found something that's more suitable. Now she just looked like a plus-sized early Britney wannabe. There should be a rule to only limit SJB to stage one entry per year.
