Well one thing we know for sure is Molly PH kept the best song for herself

I could careless how modern it sounds (not sure why everybody is so obsessed with that this year and determining the quality of a song based on that). I can barely remember how it goes after its over xshrug

Wiwibloggs only cares about the stereotypical eurovision songs, so this is right in their street
I couldn't care less about this song, you can't change it with Chameleon and I couldn't care less. Both are between 20-30th place to me. Both very bland typical eurovision songs to me with no redeeming qualities around it. The only thing this song has got going it for it is that it's more "modern" whatever that means. On the other hand Chameleon had more of a climax and a build up. Anyway it doesn't matter, because I believe Ira Losco will strand in the semi's regardless.

So THIS is what allegedly is sooo much better? I can't see a big difference neither in quality nor in appeal. It sounds similar, it feels similar and for the first moment I thought it was just a fundamental revamp of chameleon.

It mightbe just a liiiiiiiitle bit better as an entry, but that's where it ends.

My dirty mind made "I'm no perfect bottom ... I can't get off on your love" out of the lyrics while listening for the first time

This is probably a more interesting and contemporary choice than Chameleon and it'll probably do a lot better. Like many others though, I'm disappointed. I knew Molly Pettersson Hammar was involved but judging from the wiwibloggs review I wasn't expecting it to be anything like Hunger or I'll Be Fine, and yet it almost exactly is. I'm not a fan of the whole soul, swagger deal at all. The drums and beat that come in after the first minute is the only good thing about the song IMO. I can see this being top 10 at best but certainly not good enough for top 5.

I was a huge fan of Chameleon and it was in my top 3 over all... Although this song is quite different I think I feel about the same about it! Maybe I like it a little less (my top 5?), but it is more contemporary (so would imagine more wide appeal)...

Apparently not? Eurovision fans confuse me. In the UK there is often a lot of moaning "why can't we send something that would easily be in the chart top 40"... Every song has echoes of another... With this it's Beyoncé "Running" and Emeli Sandé "Heaven"... Both great songs so surely not a bad thing! I can easily image WOW in the UK top 40 sung by Katy B, Emeli Sandé or Jess Glynn... It's like you can't win no matter what you do... xshrug

In other thoughts it caught me first listen, and grows from there. I think a good presentation would make this really stand out. I also think this will be easier to sing live, the effects are on the track not the vocals.

For me, Malta have just replaced a really good entry with another really good entry, and I don't get the hate for either... Both WOW or Chameleon would be worthy winners in my mind.

THE GOOD:

-This is an instrumental-heavy song, and the instrumentals in here are pretty good.
-The vocals fit well with what the song is going for.
-This makes for a slick groove and a somewhat memorable song to boot.

THE BAD:

-It doesn't quite hook me into the song as much as I would like.
-I could do without the beginning instrumentals, but that is just me.

THE VERDICT:

Malta has quite the good song here, and I like its chances of making it into the Final. The concept is good (I would classify this as trance) and well-executed. As far as after making it into the Final, we'll see, but in the meantime, this is a good song. 8 points

100x better than that generic Chameleon but not a winner. Still, the juries will definitely going to help Malta because you know...they always do.

I liked both Chameleon and Walk On Water very much and I think this new song got a bigger chance to win. Having that said I still slightly prefer Chameleon because it really felt like it had a message and reached out.
