You don't have to blame it on PBS or Ira. You have to blame it on the fanboys who bashed Ira's song. If they had been quiet and polite and hadn't protested against it, Malta would've kept the song. That's what you get when the fanboys spend all their pitiful lives to bash online all the chosen entries. No wonder that the broadcasters then get tired of it and then they try to search for other solutions, in order to hope to be more successful in ESC. And of course, all of this happens only when female singers are involved. ALL the female entries are always bashed, every year. On the other hand, I never heard fanboys bashing male entries, ever. Those are always praised, no matter how they sound like.

Aside from the bashing of Frans, Serhat, Michal, Hovi Star, Highway, Donny Montell, Ivan, Lighthouse X etc. from this year alone. Please don't bring gender into this

Whatever... the impact that nowadays the fanboys have on the ESC-season is seriously worrying. It seems like the value of musical variety in ESC is dying, and the only thing that matters now is sending entries that appeal only to the community of fanboys.

The whole situation is even more hilariously ridiculous when you remember the fact that Ira had not one but TWO songs in the national selection and they STILL changed her song to something completely different. Like what they hell, talk about a rude and nasty slap in the face to everybody else involved in the national selection

Watch out! "Walk On Water" may still be a temporary entry. When Eurovision starts, she will probably have found a better tune
Or maybe she'll do a medley of her three songs eventually :D

This is not serious. First, Belarus almost every single year. Then, Albania last year. Now, Malta. There should be a rule to respect NF choices and not change because the reaction is not what they expected.

Anyway, the main problem here is that Ira Losco sucks live and that won't change. And no, nobody except fans remember "7th wonder" so that won't serve so much.

I think it's important to point out that changing the entry was stated as a possibility in the rules of the NF. It's not out of nowhere like Albania last year.

Judging from this I'm guessing her social media has garnered a few mixed reactions

Has anybody seen what was being written before she deleted them?

Honestly - this whole thing is just irritating the hell out of me... Just believe in the original song that you had and don't mess about hastily hashing together something new because the reaction wasn't the uniform adulation that you had hoped for. Life isn't all rainbows and kittens Ira!

So Malta is doing a "Belarus"??? If the winner don't want to go with the entry the people supported, then the runner up should get the ticket instead... this attitude is very disrespectful towards the public and I don't get why broadcasters still act like this... then why have an open selection process in the first place if the result won't be respected? xshrug

I furiously hope that Malta will present to us a shitty/garbage which could allow my dearest Gabriela to qualify Czech Republic for the first time ever.

Drama for absolutely NOTHING. She can change her song 5000 times, she will still be a bad performer. Her comment just leaves me a bitter taste, she should learn to respect those who vote for her.

My opinion of her has been low since the NF with her self entitled attitude she had going on through out it. I did like the song, so I am bit annoyed it's changed, but I'll get over it. I think it's more a kick on the teeth for all the people who voted in the NF, and mostly to the other participants in the NF. Really the Maltese broadcaster should have just internally selected it.
