"Pin the Middle" in and "Safe" out. Didn't expect that.

I had to tweet: 2 of the worst songs in the semi make the final and Miriam is out... CRAZY

(2 worst songs: Pin the Middle and City Lady)

Ok so here's my opinion about last night's semi.

First of all stage was great. Sound not so much. Song quality was lousy.

Too many ballads (Franklin's ballad was badly dated, Fabrizio's was contrived. Didn't like Miriam Christine either - I'm of course GLAD Mr.Give-Me-Attention-Faniello is out, but that means we'll stick with him next year. Andreana was BORING, so was Amber.

Who else? I missed Richard Edwards as I was so bored I went out for a cigarette... Corazon was a non-event, Chris Grech was a screaming mess, Ryan Paul - not my kind of thing, Christabelle - badly off-key, Raquel - great voice but boring song (the award for snoozefest though goes to Andreana, I'm surprised she didn't collapse sleeping). I didn't quite like Daniel Testa either, I get he's the favourite but I doubt he'll make it all the way tonight.

I watched till the last song and I quite. Too bad as I missed the real performer (IRA LOSCO xheart) and I don't know who performed next.

However, on the plus side, I'm glad my two/three/five favourites qualified... (five is stretching it but here are the five performances I kinda liked):

5) Deborah C - she's used to performing on TV, and whilst her song was a Melodifestivalen-reject-kinda like, she pulled it off.
4) Wayne - I LOVE his vocals but the song's the same all over again.
3) Jessika - 'Euphoria' rip-off, good performance. Again, lots of work needed but it stood out. I hope she doesn't win tonight though...
2) Pamela - love the song although it's not commercial or anything (if that's a good or bad thing is debatable)
1) DE BEE - my absoulte favourite and feedback on Facebook looks like she might win this after all. It's different, unique and relaxing. It will end up last but I don't care, she just has to walk away with it tonight!

I'm surprised how many adverts are in English.

EDIT: and how many are repeated over and over. I'm looking at you ROCS travel.

That's Maltese TV for you - adverts are almost ALL in English (boo us, we have our own language but of course, English is more 'TV-standard', no offence meant)

And don't get me started on the ads, is there a show with so many spot commercials like the Maltese NF?? A 1.5hr show gets stretched to over 3 hours!! Un-friggin-believable xpuke

Franklin's song kind of reminds me of Jostein Hasselgård "I'm Not Afraid to Move On" (Norway 2003) ;)

I personally disagree, as I can listen to  2003 forever, whilst I dozed off during Franklin's song, but that's just my opinion :)

I thought the ads in UK were bad enough and went on forever. But Malta is on a whole new level, long adverts, that repeat over and over, and are shown every other sentence. xfaint
