I'm late to sprinkle my thoughts once again. But I might as well will
(tl;dr alert)
The thing I'm happy for is that Gebrasy advanced. I think I may have a soft spot for his music now? Ever kinda since his somewhat disjointed "In My Bones" hit the market on 2018 (and co-written by Michael Schulte nonetheless???), to nowadays, when he tries to somber up and mature a little with a somewhat lyrically dark "Where'd You Wanna Go?". They say it's the best song but it's such a shame it's in the same year as The Roop, and some may say this could actually be winning
over The Roop (just because of jury's unpredictability, exh|bit a) Fusedmarc). Gianluca's ears might've perked up a bit at this part but don't hold your breath - Gebrasy is just as male too ^_^
I also liked Norbertas and Gabrielius songs, Norbertas was shunted with a surprising bop and Gabrielius put a stripped back of its qualities "Tave čia randu"-esque chorus but I still somewhat liked his effort. Glad to see the latter being appreciated so much.
Now the women of the qualifier 5... I didn't dig their songs as much. Evita's kind of bedroom jams don't excite me at all. The phone camera aspect is hilarious though. Aistė Brokenleg was mostly praised for bringing something unusual... yeah well where were your praises when HER SONG WAS ACTUALLY GOOD??? In a lulzy year this could've gained a Fusedmarc-esque momentum considering Fusedmarc was always a jury's bitch. And maybe so is Aistė as well, now at least, with a weaker song impactwise. But it also had its hilarious moment (ofc the random keyboard playing in the middle of the song was kneeslapping, don't not count it as such). Her performance wouldn't change much so I expect her die in the semi right away with the lack of the televoting support from her side.
Well but at least there were female songs I liked. Sunday Afternoon's one is not one of them. It's just... average. Like a Sunday afternoon with nothing to do is. HOWEVER, I did dig some of Cosmic Bride, and I can't wait to see if BorisBubbles has written anything about just what the hell was the Cosmic Bride experience
I did feel some sympathy her way (just like the njdevils guy (debated) when she was still into writing jazzy ditties for the NF and undressing her jacket and putting it on a rack. And then she did a complete image 180 with becoming what I can say is kinda like Lithuanian Bjork? (CB herself kinda confirmed it as well that she listens to that kinda music, too) Well at least when she was kind of moving towards her fully experimental phase in... 2011 I guess. "Solitary Star"'s production is likeable, the dress is nice and the balls on the floor were... also somewhat nice? Just not the best performance and CB remains to be a televote-hate-darling but jury-darling, just like she was, every 3 years.
The other female, Gabrielė, I somewhat tolerated her in a way, but I did realize her song is incredibly repetitive, eventhough chillax summer vibes spreading. And the performance did her no favours, and the yoga ladies were rather a random addition to this than something actually useful and complementary for the song. Idc if she was making out with a yoga instructor in the MV, that's not the part you should've incorporated from there in the performance, dammit
The other two are meh... but Rapolas is an interesting meh, with a dancer summoned for no reason all over him. And trumpets. And Windows Ding sounds. And Lithuanian language. Uno Band are just a complete flavorless meh, well but at least the lead singer kinda reminds me of another band's lead singer, that one of a more popular one's, and that's something... I mean I actually kinda liked it but I acknowledged how much of a void of anything it really is, in a standard of Lithuania nonetheless - interesting they submitted two songs and the song selection jury actually selected this one as their best shot, and this leaves me with a Schrodinger's wish to not want and want to hear what the other one was like at the same time.
At least Be U, another generic feeling event performance band, has some flavour within themselves, AND in their song. I don't think Uno Band really has anything?
