Re: LITHUANIA 2019
Aaawwww I wish I was on your sassy Younited jury but I guess that with me on board there'd be too many people
oh well
Is there a show on the 12th? Seems to be a gap according to Wikipedia...
LRT aired a concert for victims in Ukraine instead that day... last year there was a one week skip on the NF too so then I was able to watch the Destination Eurovision semi 1, just like this year
I also would have pushed through Gebrasy over Twosome.
SAAAAAAAME or even Matas over Twosome
but who are we kidding? lithuania will just crown that svala lookalike singing rain of revolution 2.0 with a beatboxer, be bottom 3 in their eurovision semifinal and we will all go
nah, Man's Ass aren't Netta-like enough. You see, ever since our 2016 NF, I noticed that our winners can feel a little like the previous winners in a way... like 2015 saw Sweden win with a pop number, and our 2016 entry was a pop number written by Swedes, with music video filmed in Sweden and staging worked on by a (kinda) Swede as well. 2016's winner was an alternative song - not pop, not ballad, just some minimalistic electronica with duduk influences and some additional orchestration. In 2017 our jury thought of sending something 'alternative' as well (especially knowing that Fusedmarc made music yeaaaars before entering Eurovizijos and it was not awful at least), for the sake of being alternative but not too poppy. But then, a ballad about love won 2017! And what did we decide to send in 2018? Same, but Ieva wasn't in a bad need of anything medical (except that one time in Lisbon when she had a stomachache but that wasn't too harmful), someone unrelated to her wrote the song to her (and even suggested it for someone else
entirely before passing it on to Ieva), only one songline was sung in native language and someone else was on stage with Ieva (backings and a hubby; Salvador was all alone on a faraway stage 'island'). Yeah the themes weren't 100% similar in undertones as well but they both were essentially about love.
Netta won in 2018 and she was all kooky and crazy with her 'pushing' 'stupid boys' away and having a charm to it somewhat. And since that won and I'm yet to see a clone of "Fuego"... we could potentially go for either a jokey or energetic or strangely amusing-looking act (Twosome, 120, Alen Chicco) or some song with a faux-feminist message (Justina Budaitė). If Austria had won, I wouldn't see why not Monika Marija for ESC (esp. with "Light On"). If Hungary won, we may have had someone with rockier undertones pushed to ESC (and everyone would just stop referencing Lordi as those that the rockers should see as their ESC guiding star). And so on. I feel like songs like "Fire Fountain" from 2018 NF and "Rožės" from this year could have been the alternative winners that would have suited 2017 better considering they're somewhat minimalistic and one of them is more electronic somewhat, even.
But of course, at the same time everything can turn completely unpredictable last minute, so my theories might be rendered useless
