Re: LITHUANIA 2019
Here are my rankings for this week. To quote a robbed icon, "I don't care". This wasn't a great round. Giedrius Nakas coming last in the public vote I thought was very sad. He was top 3 for me. Simple and soulful. Perhaps my favourite even. The jury were tripping, along with the public. Anyway....
1. Lukas Bartaška - River of hope
2. JUNA - Strength of a woman
3. Edgaras Lubys - To the sky
4. Original Copy - Power Of Sounds
5. Paola Hart - I'll Be Alright
6. Emilija Gogolytė - Riddle
River of Hope I like, but the quite strong accent is a bit of a barrier for me. Still, probably my favourite song from this round. This man has got soul. I like him.
Strength of a Woman is decent. I like how Lithuania seemingly has a thing for old school R&B pop jams. At the same time though, this pales in comparison to Kotryna's song from last year for instance.
To The Sky has a fun performance that makes it enjoyable to watch. I went to listen to the studio version of this though and my interest dropped dramatically. I love synth pop generally but this one can feel a bit of a slog to sit through. Not bad but the twirls are the main event.
The rest aren't for me, although Power Of Sounds is kind of bless if I'm being honest. I find it amusing how Gebrasy flopped by himself the previous week and now is back as one fifth of the hottest new Lithuanian girl group. God bless his soul.
