I don't entirely understand the method of matching performers with songs... I know quite a bit of that happened last year, but some artists also entered with their own songs, and it would be odd to say the least if that weren't possible at all. I tried to read the rules (available here), and it seems like there's some element of choice that artists could potentially use to get their songs in (or at least songs they had agreed upon with the composers from the beginning), but I don't understand the specifics. It also looks like the final is most likely to be the 8th of February.

Sasha Song flopped HARD. Eliminated in the first round! Sooooo funny.

Well I wondered how he could have sung in French, and result : he sings in a language that has nothing to do with French... But I think it's still time for Sasha to enter Azerbaidjani selection with such abilities in my language !

The Lithuanian concept is like a more professional version of Mili Secim Turu but with established names instead. As much as I hate these "talent show" type of selections, I think it's even more degrading for established acts to have to compete in a farce like that because it proves that this has nothing to do about the entries what so ever. So after these heats the qualified acts will be paired with a song? A bit of a confusing concept, though pairing entries with acts is happening also in Swedish Melodifestivalen (but it's done behind closed doors though).

That's what I think... I can't see why they choose one or another based on a past song... That's really ridiculous. Plus, they have rejected great singers like Julija Jegorova or Aleksandra Metalnikova to go for boring Aiste Pilvelyte... Vilija Mataciunaite won it all with a bad performance... Lithuania is always

They don't understand that it's not on a singer singing any pop song anymore. One has to come with a concept.

They should just copy Eesti Laul and it would be great !

Each performer is going to get two songs, and those will be decided by the 50/50 vote.

They had been allowing performers and songwriters to enter separately for a while now, but I'm really not sure why they thought it was a good idea to go even further in that direction. The way the change was described when the news first came out made me suspect that they regretted sending a piece of cardboard like Andrius Pojavis and wanted to weed those out this time, but I seriously doubt this is the right reaction. They've scared away current independent artists, like Beissoul, who is about to put out an album with his musical partner and isn't interested in the Eurovision selection at all anymore.

Knowing Lithuania, they would probably waste her vocal talents and give her some cheesy ballad like the DREADFUL jury-wanker "C'est ma VIIIIIE" xpuke or something like Russia/Georgia 2013 xpuke

Such a shame that would be! She'd probably do well with an upbeat pop anthem, but I can't really see that happening based on Lithuania's past entries...

Monika is a singer of pop songs, she hasn't got a voice that suits big ballads and it was quite daring for her to chose Gravity. She has been overlooked by televoters and only saved by juries...
She finished 10th in 2010
4th in 2011 (that wasn't a good attempt... :? )
3rd in 2012 (her best attempt)
And withdrew from last year's final

If she's a finalist, she'll go in that direction...
She's a nice singer and a very beautiful girl. She should be chosen one day, before becoming Lithuania's Olivia Lewis !

As for C'est ma vie, it's not a cheesy ballad, it's a cabaret chanson. That was really dated, but it's part of a musical tradition...

I can excuse her for not knowing the lyrics in the chorus, because none of us do either

I really think they should learn the lyrics before going on stage. Because of that, we have strange misheard lyrics like up here with "Gravity". For me, there is a little difference between "I should have stayed up high" and "I should have strenght, oh f**k"
