It's a lovely slogan and I absolutely get the meaning behind it and think that that's a great meaning but is it really suitable for Eurovision? It seems more suited for a political summit or religious summit or something like that.

I think it's too meaningful for Eurovision. I'm afraid the next Eurovision will go all the way of spreading politically correct messages.... on the expense of fun

The Director General continued: "The end of the Second World War marks the 70th time European countries shake hands with each other - in Austria, the country that has always assumed a central role as a mediating instance, as a bridge between the East and the West. We understand this slogan as a logical extension of the idea Conchita Wurst formulated at the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest and also lived: the importance of openness, tolerance across all borders for a joint interaction. With the song contest in Vienna, we want music to build bridges across borders, cultures and languages. In light of the unifying power of this great common European event, we invite all to build bridges and to join hands."

*yawn* what a bloated political puppet Mr Wrabetz is

For a country that hasnt won for ages, they seem to lack the enthusiasm of winning and start preaching instead..... this might take the crown from Sweden for hosting most moralist contest

slightly disappointed now...

I don't like the slogan. I understand what they mean by "building bridges", but I think it focuses too much on the negative side of differences. Like "We really have to make a big effort to reach the other side". For example, "We Are One" was very easy, catchy and conveyed the ideia that despite the differences, at the end, we were the same. It was much more positive!

I think "Building Bridges" would have been more fitting last year, Copenhagen and Malmö being connected by the Øresund Bridge

Now, it just sounds like an Austrian construction firm's slogan xfaint

In a world as it looks right now, with a war that has been raged in eastern Europe, and that 2014-15 is a kinda of huge rememberance era of the big world wars that actually happened in and around Austria, I think this is a perfect slogan as such. Even if it isn't super catchy like We Are One for example, this is a good one cause it is a sensitive time for Eurovision, because of the political situation in Europe today, of both the Ukraine situation, but also all the nationalist and racist parties that is growing big in many european countries. Eurovision has to try to be a force of making people together, especially when it isn't much things except sports championships that can make such things.
This has absolutely nothing to do with moralism or focus on negative things, some of you are taking the importance of a Europe without hate or discrimination for granted, this is a fight that everyone has to take, if we all do this in our own little way, then we can create a better Europe. Even this, with a silly slogan, to a silly little music contest like Eurovision Song Contest.

Well, it's true that Austria is a builder of bridges, since it is a country of high morals, common sense and diplomacy, based on neutrality, when the rest of the world resorts to war. I think their ideas for Ukraine - federalism and neutrality - are brilliant. But those ideas are not interesting for NATO, which wants to ally with Ukraine to establish a permanent threat for Russia.

If the bridge theme translates into stage design, I think we could see a fantastic stage....

Ok, it makes sense now. I understand this slogan and I appreciate it a bit.
