Yeah ok, valid argument but these are not the 80s. Demands put on a melody are way higher. Back then you'd get away with children's music basically. Truth is probably found somewhere halfway between us.It can't be that hard. Songwriters have been writing amazing choruses for decades before now. The 1980s was nothing but super catchy melodic choruses. I'd say that modern songwriters are just lazy.

Why is modern dance music so allergic to having a chorus? I'll never get it.
I would say that it has a chorus, it is just instrumental. The dubstep part is very memorable and works as a chorus in that way.
