Great … No Atom or Miks Dukurs??? The other entries are rather boring. Well, now I will be rooting for
Dziļi Violets feat. Kozmens and Double Faced Eels. Even though I don't burn for these songs, they are still okay. But I am disappointed.

Oh, Latvia! This such a boring NF 15 entrys of has 16 has no chance to get in the Final. Edgars or Adriana maybe could grown on me, but there's no chance for the final. Markus Riva is the best, not his strongest Song of all his attempt, but this could go through to the final. I hope it's his time this time.

Kris & Oz and Laika Upe are the only ones left I like. Carousel isn't bad either.

So I listened to the whole line up (all 33 songs).

I hate to say this, but I´m really not impressed.

Granted, there wasn´t really that many bad songs, maybe 2 or 3, but most of them sounded average and made me go like this: "Mhm...yea....moving on"!

The only song of this entire line up that got my attention was "Alligator". Its a shame it didn´t make the list of final 16. With a bit of revamp, "Alligator" would have been a really cool choice. And I´m not even the type of person who usually falls for the quirky and weird songs like that one.

Without "Alligator", I got no favorite left. You might as well go pick Markus Riva, considering how the competition is not that good.

Wow, i'm shocked to find myself actually enjoying Markus Riva's song. I'm pretty certain I flat out disliked all of his previous attempts. I don't know what it is about guys with quite questionable English (and perhaps singing voices in general) doing sexy, dark electro-pop stuff. The style really suits him. I wouldn't mind at all if he finally got his year with this. I like it (quite a darn bit if i'm being totally honest). Sounds Loboda-esque even.

Samanta Tina, the star of the show as usual though. What a jam she's got. A true wire desire.


I was going to say something about Kristīne Pastare's "Smaragdi un pelni" but instead i'll wait for [MENTION=14007]lavieenrose[/MENTION] to write his love letter to it here. I'm sure his words will explain my feelings for it too.

"Somebody's Got My Lover" and "Fake" are quite nice... Markus Riva song would sound amazing in Russian but English is CLEARLY not a language he should ever go back to.

this is the first year post-aminata that has stoked in me the feat that Bad Latvia is rearing its ugly head again. this is not a strong roster. double faced eels have a great song that would keep Good Latvia's current standard, but eveeything else is opening the door for the return of Bad Latvia.

For me personally, "Alligator" was easily the most memorable song out of the bunch, hence why I can´t get over the fact that its eliminated.

I decided to listen to the line up of 16 songs a couple more times so I could finally make my top 5.

Anyway, here are the songs that I found to be the most "listenable" out of this selection:

1. Kristiāna - "Remedy"
2. Laika Upe - "Listen to the Way that I Breathe"
3. Markus Riva - "You Make Me So Crazy"
4. Carousel - "That Night"
5. Elza Rozentāle - "You Came on Tiptoe"

I think that Remedy has potential to be a decent song, but it requires one hell of a revamp.

I just somehow watched 2017 on Youtube... It's still unbelievable to me that his had such a poor televoting score 2016 was my long time #1 that year and Tirana Park in 2017 wasn't bad either! This year's Supernova feels like such a big let-down compared to those years
