I'm not sure if you can compare ANY slow song to Calm after the storm. There's more to a song than the tempo.....

Personally not doing that at all. I mean more that CATS was called very boring and not impactful enough for Eurovision before the contest, and then it slayed, I'm more hoping for that to happen and for people to be proven wrong once again (but that may very well not happen, still I see a potential similarity). I'm also more comparing the atmospheres of the two songs.

I've always like this entry so I am happy that Carousel won (even though ''Fire'' by Double Faced Eels were my no.1 favourites here). It's sweet, memorable & enchanting in some easy-flowing, tasty - jolly way. I like its swingy-jazzy vibe.

My comment was triggered by your post but was based on the multiple observation in several threads over the last weeks, that made the constant "slow song equals CATS"- statement. That's why I didn't reply directly to your post.

As for this particular song - I fail to see any similarities between those two. But as always - I could be mistaken.

It's an alright song, but considering that Croatia and Slovenia have just chosen this sounds like a masterpiece. Not my thing but I can tolerate it for now.

I just listened to Croatia's entry and I think I prefer it. I can at least put myself in eurotrash mode for that and be somewhat entertained I guess. The choices tonight I feel have been incredibly misguided. I've got patience and enjoy slower, understated stuff but everything picked has been bland, and the one NF favourite I actually thought I'd get this year (Fatal Error from Hungary) got their back stabbed by the jury this evening, who gave them the most points previously. Deliver me Serhat already. I'm through with following NFs and always being disappointed.

Eurovision 2019 started promising, but after tonight it is off track. This song is almost another zero for me.

It's sweet. Definitely don't know why everyone is so mad, it's not like Latvia had any other decent songs in its selection.
