Every rumour is saying that Latvia are done at ESC for the foreseeable future after this result. Not exactly surprising considering their poor record.

Poor record brought by poor entries... regardless of my opinion, but they haven't really sent an entry which was considered as a favourite in the past few years, have they?

As lovely as Cake to Bake was, Latvia would've been sailing through in the top 5 of the semi with Saule riet. It's their own fault for picking lovely but in essence doomed entries year after year.

The performance was visually underwhelming, something just didn't feel right, the intended feeling didn't deliver to the viewers. I don't exactly like this song, or the vibe it gives, but i expected something more similar to the video, for lack of a better description.... the performance felt like someone guided them into a TV studio at the last moment and said "There are the microphone stands, just stand there and sing your song!", kinda like Croatia and Switzerland last year.

I predicted Latvia as the "dark horse" of Semi 1, but they didn´t transport the feeling of the song, so one of the worst performances yesterday imo.

I discovered the songs of the 1st semi final, so I'll give my opinion on the Latvian entry this year :

I appreciate Latvia because they never send "standard" songs, but that's not always for the better. "Cake to Bake" is a cute song which could have existed in the late 60's, the people on stage were fun and the audience seemed to enjoy the act. It was a nice try but it also had "non qualifier" written all over it, this had no chances of qualifying. But I applaud the fact that it's something different from the other countries.

I think it can grow on me with the studio version, but it won't trouble my personal ranking I guess.

I think the outfit killed them. They needed suits and a haircut. They were funnier and more interesting than Pellapönk, though Pellapönk wasn't bad either. But Iceland had the "proper looks".

That one was like 10 million times better than Malta's 2013 entry.
Don't ask me about the connection between both. There sure is.

Yeah I think they would have faired better in our Semi and it's a shame that they weren't placed there. I'm sure both the UK and Ireland would have warmed to them.
