sadly we're talking about Italy Rai they don't care about staging their songs, but I would love if Angelina hired someone to elevate her performance, the song is begging for some dancers arround her.
I think it works fine without all the "oh we need some dancers" crap. The lighting and the camera cuts often produce enough energy, especially when there is already 'crowded' around the singer (=the orchestra).

But I do think the staging can (and of course will be) upgraded in Malmö.

It's simply impossible to predict how well Geolier would do in ESC, as the competition has never really had a mainstream sounding (i.e. non-ethnic) rap song like that before. The only decently comparable example is Mahmood. Also Who See, but that was more than a decade ago?
Well Mahmood can sing while he cannot rap/sing without vocoder, but it's kinda pointless to talk about it now:ROFLMAO:

I'll be waking up to the news of Angelina's decision since the winner's press conference will be held at 6am my time. I'm still positive she'll accept, if she does she'll be the first solo female to represent Italy since Francesca Michielin in 2016, and Dardust will have 2 entries competing (he is also the co-writer of the Luxembourg entry)

I'll give it a :7: when the poll is up.
I like the instrumental a lot, but I don't find the song catchy, imho Annalisa would have been a better choice amongst the girls.
One thing about "La Noia" that I also like is that it has a lot of potential for a great staging, sadly we're talking about Italy Rai they don't care about staging their songs, but I would love if Angelina hired someone to elevate her performance, the song is begging for some dancers arround her.
Don't think that Rai's reputation for bad stagings is true anymore. Måneskin, Mahmood+Blanco (their performance was the issue) and Mengoni all had good to great stagings. Up-tempo girlbop isn't exactly something that hasn't been done at ESC before, not too difficult to stage.

These stagings are good, but they're aesthetically simple. If Mango approves to go to Eurovision, I'm intrigued on how Rai will stage a song as decorated as La Noia. The simplicity of their past efforts won't do it justice.

I didn't mean that they were bad, they're just overall a simple and for me "La noia" has so much potential to be visually interesting that I fear that they won't be able to stage it well.
Yes you can add a lot with the led screens, camera work and the lights, but it ain't enought for me, for example one ideia I like on the music video that could work really well live is the group of women helping a bride getting ready to her honeymoon, it is a bit sexy, but I see it mostly as playfull and having someone on stage with whom Angelina could interact with, could be a way for her to show her charisma to the public at home.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why 100% televote is not a good idea and never will be.
Go Italy, go Angelina!

Sanremo split vote has tested once again effective against huge fandoms trying to bribe their beloved artist victory (happened already with Ultimo and Francesca/Fedez) and bloc voting. After this I don't think we will EVER change our voting system. Sanremo is a SONG contest, not a POPULARITY contest. And while Angelina had one of the best ones, Geolier had one of the worst (and I'm saying this objectively, he really has better songs than this one). I'm starting to think the split vote Sanremo adopts Is what makes almost every time out entry competitive in Eurovision too: it's really hard to choose something people dislikes.

PS: I hope someone just gives a raise to the journalists in the press jury! They totally deserved it for doing their job well! And it's not even the first time they actually save the day for me (2019 was another clear example)

Same here. For me something is missing, I would have prefered Analisa (it would have been a :10: despite the too many "quandos"). But for now I am just happy that Geolier didn't make it. For now I will be giving a :6:. with the potential to grow.

You must be so relieved! xkiss
My dear sweetheart mauve
You don't imagine how happy I'm
At the moment she was proclaimed as the winner I was screaming so much and after 2 min someone knocked at my rooms hotel door saying "Please we want to sleep" 😂😂😂😂
I love this song, I love her, I loved her father's music. May I say it's a perfect.
Now I can face happily 465 steps and visit that Buddhist temple we're planning to do this afternoon.
I hope you enjoyed the show and being with us ❤️

People thinking there is someone out of his mind in the same hotel must have been a scary experience. 😂
By the way in Japan there is a temple called Yamadera where you need to go over 1000 steps up to visit it. But now you can go there with a happy ad light heart! Enjoy your visit there! ❤️

Wow, a WOMAN winning! Angelina better accept the ticket to be Italy's ESC entry. I found her really fascinating when she performs. The song is so difficult to perform due to the speed she was going, but she did with such ease when she was basically dancing freestyle on stage. The song needs a good staging to elevate it even further. Songwise, I think it's fine. I have no complaints on it.

Personally, I prefer Mahmood's and Annalisa's songs, they are more easy on the ears and would have done well as ESC's songs for Italy. As for the runner-up, I know alot of people detest the song/performer winning. But I thought it's actually alright.
Irama's song is disappointing. Didn't bother with the rest.

My two No 1 in this Sanremo were actually Irama (and I didn't like his attempt before!) and Santi Francesi. Wow. "L'amore in bocca" was incredible! ❤️ I hope that Angelina will accept (does she have doubts?) because I don't want G. to be your representant!

Really happy with the result!! I think it's a really strong argument for why juries are needed in a song contest in some capacity.

Just looked at the line-up at Wiki, and then I realize the 5 entrants that advanced to the superfinal performed one after another
(14-19). I wonder if the audience faced fatigue after those songs coz after that not a single song ended up in the top 10.

Victory of the talent show public mixed with an important name that gave the right sprint. If Angelina Mango had been called Lorenza Fragola with "La Noia" she would never have won. Precisely this year I expect the usual love and tranquility of the european fandom for Italy which coincides with a non-competitive song, which we can easily get tired of and motivate the fader, which can reflect three results: Emma's failure, the medium Michielin's scoreboard or Nina Zilli's low Top 10. She overcame discrimination. Because it's been years since men (who actually brought better songs and deserved it) got hate. Finally Italy has its woman, a charismatic but immature woman who sings with the cacophonous accents of trappers. It has never been seen in the history of intellectual discography that a song by a newcomer is chosen over one that is conquering Spotify. Now I sit on the bank patiently like a Chinaman. At the end of the Eurovision Song Contest we see who was right: whoever clouded reason by claiming that Angelina is the Mahmood of 2019 or me. With the only difference that I don't care if Italy finishes last while the individual in question will be less arrogant from next year 😂

Special mention for Sanremo. Regardless of the wrong winner, it was a monstrous competition. Not even ESC often manages to bring similar quality and diversity.

My posts in the Italy Thread end. See you again in May.
