Well. I think for now Geolier is the big favourite to win; he's landsliding with social interactions and he has a big fandom (the whole Campania). Second best is Annalisa but I think she's far from him. Angelina could be the outsider. Il Volo will finish top 5, maybe even top 3
I don't think Geolier is a favourite anymore.
He can get many televotes but by now he is out of top 5. We don't know the exact position. The televote might bring him up and get him into the superfinal top 5 but still at the end the televote counts only 34%.
Remember also that the final televoting is done at around 1 o'clock. Not many fans follow the show until that time so the other contestants of the superfinal top 5 might be helped by the votes of the other two juries which count with 66%

I'm afraid because I've seen lots and lots of positive comments about Geolier. And not only by people from Naples/Campania.

Another unpopular one, maybe: "Autodistruttivo" by La Sad has one of the best lyrics among all songs this year. It's really meaningful and feels really sincere: seems to come from someone who has actually lived that situation.

Hello dear community! So I fell into sleep earlier than expected and listened to the last 15 songs only this morning.

First, a random thought: Dargen d'Amico SHOULD go to Eurovision someday. "Onda Alta" is even more amazing than "Dove si Balla" and I need to get some (elegant) gabber ambiance at Eurovision.
Second: by Sanremo standards, it's a very good year. By French standards, even Fred de Palma could win here.

Consequently, my ranking (through only Sanremo performances, I'll listen to radio cuts today while working):
  1. Annalisa
  2. Negramaro
  3. Dargen d'Amico
  4. Angelina Mango
  5. Mahmood
  6. The Kolors
  7. Emma
  8. Diodato
  9. Clara
  10. Irama
  11. Fiorella Mannoia
  12. Geolier
  13. Sangiovanni
  14. Loredana Bertè
  15. Ricchi & Poveri
And expecting a superfinal Annalisa vs. Angelina vs. Mahmood... as everyone else, it seems.
OK. So I've drunked my ears (?) with Sanremo today and...

Annalisa all the way.
Not that any other of my top ten wouldn't be good. Definitely not. But Annalisa's chorus is incredibly anthemic and catchy (and even without clapclap, I can see the audience in Malmö sing the "Sinceramente" at the right time)

I listened to Mr. Rain again. He is a true poet and the musical composition is extremely careful. Yes, obviously, "Due Altalene" is not at the level of "Supereroi" and I see it more as a beautiful soundtrack for a film and... even more obviously it won't win Sanremo but I think it will win points in our hearts at the end. He is like that. It must be assimilated over time. I find it wrong to judge it badly for the use of the vocoder (which it uses as a nuance for a specific point of the song) and we must not fall into the trap of giving classifications after the first evening. Historically on the first evening of Sanremo many songs are not liked or do not capture the heart and others end up vanishing. Compared to many other music festivals, Sanremo is the "dark horses festival".

I respect your opinion but I think that Annalisa's chorus is a bit irritating and I think it will make people dance for just a month and then end up forgotten. I see in her a bit of the Representante di Lista and a bit of exaggeration of the fandom of the past trio Fedez-Ferragni-Michielin.

Are youtube views of the performances a good indicator for winner chances? Angelina Mango is quite ahead with 1.3M. Annalisa at 1M

Not quite. Public votes only count 34% in the final, and we will have a superfinal with only 5 songs. So, it's impossible to predict what song will the supporters of the songs which won't make the final cut choose as a winner.

PS: btw, they are even if you consider the official music videos, where Annalisa has 200000 more view than Angelina. As I said earlier it will be so close and maybe it is still too close to call.

Going over a few of the entries I didn't get to last night....

80's retro techno sound from Santi Francesci. Enjoy the chorus and synths. All 3 newcomers brought good songs. This probably won't be in my top 8-10 but still a nice entry.

Fred De Palma's song sounds more like the Cenere of this edition rather than BigMama than I previously eluded too. Fred brought a huge HIT to the festival. Those strings and chorus gave me near chills. Having heard it in studio the live does it way more justice.

Alfa brings an almost indie sounding/folksy hit in Sanremo. Great debut from him. He's the most casual dressed up tonight but a very solid performer. Fun chorus with all the whistling. Maybe off topic but I hope Tecla gets her Sanremo debut soon.

A few more from the first night...

Mannini looks like he could be Mahmood's brother. Mid tempo balad that starts out slowly but builds up gradually. Good first effort from him.

Really interesting song from Rose Villian. She really shows off the vocals at the beginning and then comes the Click boom boom chorus which is very easy to remember. Almost feels like 2 songs in 1 but I mean that as a compliment. As another debutante she did a really good job.

Not feeling this one from Il Tre at the beginning but the rap really brings it up. Fragili is yet another decent up-tempo entry in this year's Sanremo and a good way to wrap up a lengthy night 1.

The lineup seems great, I haven't had chance to listen through everything because there is quite a bit but nothing so far has really repulsed me in anyway. There is many great options to pick from here for Italy, based on a preliminary listen i'd say my favourite two is Angelina Mango and Annalisa, both have great songs and it seems they may be among the favourites so Happy Days. If there was any disappointment i'd probably say Diodato & Mahmood who have both had far better songs, although like i said above I don't dislike their songs. Some great choices here.

The last ones I missed...

A song about friendship from Renga/Nek? It isn't terrible but compared to what we've heard tonight it won't be finishing that high up. Melody is not the most memorable in my opinion.

Maybe the best ballad thus far? :O Mr Rain back with another pop ballad with a swing set prop thrown in. He started on the piano before getting up next too the swings. Really liked that. It has a touching message as well

Our 2nd punk entry of the night coming from NP qualifiers Bnkr44. I prefer this to La Sad even if they looked a bit more amateur. (I guess that's the look they are going for). A pleasant surprise compared to what I was expecting.

Not all the teddy bears around Dargen's suit and pants. I definitely prefer this to Dove si balla. He's a better rapper than singer. A mini choir behind him with fancy glasses join Dargen who as usual is wearing sunglasses. This is yet another Sanremo 2024 HIT.
