Tuesday's and Wednesday's votes will mean nothing. Every year those votes were similar to the first opinions. Usually Thursday will be the day when voting really becomes interesting, and will tell us way more than we know today about the chances of all participants...
I know but these votes are a clear indication who is going to be top 5. Sincerely I don't see OXA coming from behind, as Mahmoud and Maneskin did in 2019 and 2021
Last year the first night was won by Mahmoud and Blanco and the second night by Elisa, casually the first and the second of the last final ranking.
Marco placed first yesterday and for sure will be top 3 during covers nigh and top 2 with demoscopic juries, I don't know with the televote, and he s going to be a top five for the last battle. And from the last night songs I don't see any with a potential to dethrone him and Elodie from being a possible top 5, unless tonight's songs are all exceptional.

Any chance Marco would pass on the chance to do eurovision this year?
Maybe he only wants the SanRemo exposure.

It has already announced that the winner will represent :it: - I think that it´s safe to say that ALL competiting artists have made it clear that they would like to reprsent their country... that´s incredible and a huge upgrade to other years... it seems that Eurovision has become more prominent in Italians´ minds.

The "press ranking" of the first night is already important, right? I mean, the points already count whether a song gets into the final round on Saturday night or am I mistaken?

You are right. Yesterday and tonight the press, around 1300 journalists, vote.
Tomorrow the demoscopic and public.
Friday, covers night, all the Juries and Saturday only public. The union of all these votes will make a final ranking.
The top 5 of the final ranking will fight for the win and all the Juries will vote again
Press 33% Demoscopic 33% Public 34%

Mille grazie for explaining it to us (again)! - As a non-Italian who just occasionally watches Sanremo, it´s not always easy to get that voting procedure right!

I just listened to Mara Sattei and I think it was one of my favourites so far - and since press ranked her 6th, I wondered if she can still win it.

Current standings don't have to mean anything :D 2 years ago, Ermal led the field after jury votes but still only had less than 5% of the total available points because of how tight everything was ;)

Ermal Meta was first until the last night.
But he just finished top 3.
2021 was a bit particular. Fedez had a huge telovote support jumping from 12 place to top 3. Ermal had a support mainly by the demoscopic and Maneskin from Juries.
Last year Mahmoud and Blanco killed all the Juries
This year is similar to 2022 i think
At this point Marco really seems well received by the majority of the public and press, highest votes from the press, highest views on YouTube, n1 on Spotify

Yeah, i honestly don't see him losing at this point. He's a superstar with a large fanbase BUT, unlike Ultimo, he can also attract votes from outside of his fanbase, so he will probably win the televote, he's also going to win the demoscopic jury since its composition leads it to favour safe songs with a broad appeal. The only jury that might have put him down was the press, but if they ranked him first now there's no way they won't do it in the superfinal.

If Italy ought to go to semifinals of Eurovision, each single of the entries of the first night of Sanremo would be a huge No-No-Non-Qualification.

They are all forgettable and mostly a complete non-event.

I don't who made a decision to push all the ballads into one night of Sanremo, whoever it was, I'm thankful because today I have no regrets for sleeping in on yesterday night. 🤣

I thought it was a huge improvement from last year and ended up somewhat liking 11 out of 14 songs, they do sound very Italian though and I understand why non-Italians dislike a lot of them, especially in the Eurovision bubble.

I didn't expect it from you Polly 🤣
You know very well that at least 2 songs from the first night might be top 15 in the final, you may like them or not.
Personally I think that Alessandra Mele has a terrible song, horrible to my personal taste but I do think she is going to have a good result in the final
It's our complex voting system that crowns a worthy and qualitative winner, sometimes conservative and sometimes innovative but always very Italian and mostly well received by the ESC public
Fortunately we don't have William Lee Adam's, Nikki Tutorials Bjorkman or pseudo ex ESC stars in juries composed by 5 or 6 people which don't have any idea about Italian music but judge only in base of what would be worthy for ESC.

Our current voting system basically means that the televote has all the power until we get to the superfinal, personally I preferred the 2021 system where each jury, televote included, had one night entirely for them and then they all voted together for the superfinal.

As an Italian, I have to say something.
I feel Marco will be our man for ESC 2023 (even though I still have fear of Ultimo's fangirls somehow taking him to an undeserved win), he has the song and the performance, but the greatest outsider is... Mr Rain! His performance yesterday (with the children choir) was really appreciated by the public, he has the most like on Sanremo's Instagram profile and he has the second most views on Youtube.
For this evening I'm waiting for Tananai (I love him and he claims he is better at live singing), Lazza (he may be an outsider), Levante and Giorgia!
