Sanremo 2021: Vote for YOUR favourite!

Loro non sanno di che parlo
Voi siete sporchi, fra’, di fango
Giallo di siga’ fra le dita
Io con la siga’ camminando
Scusami, ma ci credo tanto
Che posso fare questo salto
Anche se la strada è in salita
Per questo ora mi sto allenando

E buonasera signore e signori
Fuori gli attori
Vi conviene toccarvi i coglioni
Vi conviene stare zitti e buoni
Qui la gente è strana, tipo spacciatori
Troppe notti stavo chiuso fuori
Mo’ li prendo a calci, ‘sti portoni
Sguardo in alto, tipo scalatori

No

Io ho scritto pagine e pagine
Ho visto sale, poi lacrime
Questi uomini in macchina

Tu portami dove sto a galla
Che qui mi manca l’aria
E parla la gente, purtroppo
Parla, non sa di che cosa parla
Tu portami dove sto a galla
Che qui mi manca l’aria
Parla la gente, purtroppo
Parla, non sa di che cazzo parla
Tu portami dove sto a galla

While I like the post-2min-mark part, nothing much happens until then, I fail to feel the emotional connection.

This perfectly describes my opinion about Arisa's entry. There are parts I'd easily cut to meet the 3 minutes mark, if her entry would be chosen for Eurovision, since they do nothing to the song, instead of prolonging it. And I already know these parts would survive...

About Ermal's song. I quite like it, like I already said, but I kinda agree on you and wouldn't mind someone different winning

All of you look where the light beats without realizing that it is Sanremo to direct them to that precise point xqueenbitch The first place of Ermal Meta, even if we like him, is making him "not votable" by the Italians who are instead empathizing with Willie Peyote, Irama and the Maneskin. You have to look at the rankings and not focus on Ermal Meta but on Maneskin and Irama who are attacked in 5th and 6th position and Willie Peyote's 2nd position. As I wrote before: it is possible that there will be a surprise elimination. For example, we could see: Irama vs Willie Peyote vs Annalisa or Maneskin vs Willie Peyote vs Ermal Meta. This is what Sanremo wants: a manipulated and not unpredictable final with all the strongest in the final. This is also very good for creating debate around the Festival. I believe the strategy of turning down Irama and Maneskin but keeping them close is because they both enjoy a lot of fans. It will be the battle between the fans to decree access to the final and the elimination of one of the two. Obviously my assumptions can be disproved.

Anyway ... in the final, every ranking and score vanishes and everything will be more exciting. I hope for a grand final with Irama, Maneskin and Willie Peyote. It would be an epic final and that would increase the interest of the public but ... Sanremo really wants this? xthink

This edition, the one where we experimented the most, was the most surprising: there was a lot of quality xclap Usually experimentation leads to failures, when you are unprepared, however we have shown that our musical landscape is varied and just needed Sanremo to have the courage to give it a chance.

I am pleased that all of you friends have commented and are cheering for one or the other singer but ... does anyone know where A-lister and SwedishFailurez have gone? I haven't seen them xshrug

The only thing I'm f***ing, is stupid
I’m probably dumb for asking this, but when does the superfinal actually begin? As I can tune in when the results are announced.

@H.P. Lovecraft I have been lurking in this thread for a while, are you that curious for our opinions? :sneaky:

Anyway, I will do a ranking of these songs when time given. What I can say right now is that Sanremo continues to deliver. xup

From what I listened to (not a lot) Francesca and Fedez are my favs, it's soft and cute and the rap-ish part (which I'm always weak for) brings more depth. But it's definitely not competitive enough.

In 2018 :it: was my #1 but this time Ermal bores me. While I like the post-2min-mark part, nothing much happens until then, I fail to feel the emotional connection.
Yass, same n°1! I have to give you a  just for that reason alone :)

First there will be the race that will decide the ranking from the fourth to the twenty-sixth position and then we will move on to the SuperFinal. I think it will happen around one in the morning but I'm not sure.

Anyway ... you're finally here! We missed you! xrunhug

Thanks, it quite rare for swedes to appreciate mediterranean music like this. In my case it is due to my Croatian heritage as I been exposed to Southern European culture since my youth.

If this will go on until like 5-6 a.m I might not be awake then... I will eventually find out in the following day though.

Well then. Because Irama's chances appear to be dead and buried (the press will tank him in any scenario), my hopes are going towards Willie Peyote. Can't be too angry about Ermal or Måneskin, either, but Italy can do better than that.

Looking at the odds, though, Måneskin at 9/1 seems like a decent chance, because while this is Sanremo, they could very well win - the demoscopic jury is an issue, but the press loves them, and they should get televotes. Irama was surprisingly still ahead this morning, but has dropped significantly. Francesca&Fedez and Annalisa seem overrated for now, and Ermal's odds are too low to be worth betting on.

By the way, this year's is the most beautiful Sanremo stage I've ever seen, in terms of how it's designed and utilized. Wish we could get something as unique for Eurovision someday xheat

I partially agree with you. It is true that music and artists are more appreciated in their own country and in neighboring countries because they reflect the tastes and habits of that geographical area but, especially in this globalized era, I don't believe in these conservative and marked tastes. Furthermore, subjectivity aside, objectivity comes into play here; if a music is beautiful it is beautiful regardless.

Sanremo this year does not have many "Mediterranean" sounds (unless indie or rock is thought to have originated in Italy - here the British and the Americans would rise up). It must also be said that, especially Sweden, it should be the most open of all nations to "new sounds" and have a little broader tastes. Why? Aside from immigration (now a current topic in every country), it doesn't seem to me that you have brought "Swedish folk music" or references to it to the ESC, at least lately. Your sounds, which I appreciate, range from Pop to Dance up to limited R&B. I want to add another thing too! Italy is a Mediterranean country, you are 100% right, but we are the nation that most of all reflects European culture today. Our country, after the collapse of the Roman Empire, has always been subject to invasions and has always been divided into many different cultures. You can see it in our kitchen (from strudel to couscous), in music (from almost Balkan to almost Arabian rhythms) to art (from Gothic to Arabic). In our DNA we have a piece of each of you. We are much more alike than you think. No, SwedishFailurez. The difference is in the eyes of those who want to see it.

Tomorrow morning, we will all know who the winner is and I hope he will be a good representative for the ESC. Then anyone can win. Music is not an instinct of conservation nor an extension of the war but joy, sharing, the desire to soar and to let oneself be transported into magical worlds where languages vanish and emotions speak. Um ... my book costs 15 euros ... you can go to the cash desk now. After that, I'll sign it for you! I'm kidding! It has been nice talking to you xlove

Instead, I would bet everything on Irama if I had to bet. It is true that the odds have dropped but ... if you win? That's good money and not a couple of pennies.

The soundstage was wonderful while the audio was poor. It would be nice if the ESC could have a stage like ours and an extra evening where representatives from various countries can bring a cover of the historical songs. At this point ... the ESC is divine!

Prediction number 1: Ermal Meta will win easily, Italy will rank outside my top 10, and they’ll have a respectably average result in May when they could have been strong contenders to win with a different song (*cough* Irama).

Prediction number 2: I’ll drink myself unconscious, angrily repeating what I say every year - “This is why I don’t watch national finals! I’m not watching them any more” - only to pee myself with excitement when it starts all over again next year.
