Exactly this. When it comes to quality I don’t and won’t accept a criticism on the quality of Sanremo especially in a community where national selections like Melodifestivalen, 90% of which consists of trash entries and advertisement oriented entries are over appreciated and overhyped. Sanremo is unique to its own and no country has any quality content while electing their entries like Italy does.

What an incredibly pretentious thing to say lol. I'm not a fan Melfest fan or anything, but you can't tell me that Sanremo isn't 90% classic rock ballads and clichéed, piano ballads that are rather generic (which is my main problem with Sanremo). If you enjoy that, then great, but people can have valid differences in opinion of what accounts for something quality to them whether it's diverse or just fun

Also, I think it should be acknowledged more that despite winning in the same way as Mahmood did last year, there's significantly less controversy surrounding his win, hmmmm 🙃

If you don’t like some random national final that i named of, that’s good for you. It doesn’t change the fact of its popularity among the fanbase because of that, though, so my point still stands. You may as well criticise the quality of ENTRIES which is fine since taste is subjective. But you can’t deny the fact that sanremo is not meant to produce and advertise almost like machine made typical songs to sell well and do well. Their main concern regarding this festival is way far from that.

Diodato. 8 pts. If only Francesco was selected. It’s a beautiful melody and would have been my favourite all time winner of ESC.

You Germans will never change!
Uhm ok? Don`t know what this has to do with my nationality but go ahead, I guess.

WTF do you mean with overrating Italy? You mean Italy is overrated according to their results? Or expectations? Because their results are always great.
Actually this is exactly what I mean. As soon as you say something even remotely negative about the Italian entry fans are about to gauge out your eyes. This is starting to go down to Spanish-fans-on-YT-levels actually. There`s this Italian-entries-are-so-above-the-rest-attitude in parts of the fandom that just bothers the fuck outta me to be honest. Being confident is cool, being over confident and sometimes even condescending isn`t. Especially considering that for example Swedish fans with similar attitudes get called out by the exacts same people.

Here`s the thing: I don`t think the Italian entries are bad - not at all. (both 2019 and 2017 were in my Top 10 but it was clear to me that neither of them would win)
People just tend to scream "OMG WINNER" every year as soon as the first note is sung in Sanremo even if the chosen song ends up not being all that great. How many times do they have won again? No tea, no shade. The good placements are undeniable (even though they are to some extent diaspora-driven) and I`m in no place to invalidate them.
I personally would love to see Italy not sending a male soloist with a somewhat raspy voice like 90% of the time but that`s really just me. In general all of this is just my personal opinion or perception - by no means I would say these are die hard facts.

LOL, I don't get your post. Is it overrating by expectations or results? Italy is the most succesful country of this decade after Sweden despite of no wins. They had the highest televoting percentage of available points with Grande Amore in 2015. They were favourites to win 2017, until they screwed up their staging as if it was designed by the Spanish delegation (tacky!), stunned the televote in 2018, almost won in 2019.

They are the only country this decade which won a jury vote and a televote but not a combined vote. Italy truly deserves the award for most robbed of the decade or even the century.

The reason why Italian music is loved is because it is not blatantly insincere like the Swedish or Australian plastic. There is no overrating of Italy, because their results speak for themselves and these justity the high expectations. And therefore, I was underwhelmed with Fai Rumore, which I hope will not be the ultimate submission. There is an extreme level of overrating of Sweden and Australia of course, because the jury panels are full of record company representatives who make their money with generic shit on the radio. They vote for music that does not speak from the heart and that is why fans are always super upset. Italian music comes from the heart.

Being overconfident is not cool, that's true - looking at you Germany and your hausbacken songs that get you excited every year.

Unlike you I really love Fai rumore, but I underline evrything you said, especially:
"The reason why Italian music is loved is because it is not blatantly insincere like the Swedish or Australian plastic."
A few people said that Italy / Sanremo is not up-to.date. But I would rather call it "sincere" than being behind the time. And honestly I enjoyed Sanremomuch more than other NFs. They have great music to offer in contrary to other bland music.

Worst Italian entry since 2011. For a second I was hopeful that the song would be changed.

We really love your deep messages. Full of technical elements and musical knowledge. Very rare to find someone with such preparation.
We are onored to have more of your comment because that means this simple song isn't indifferent to you otherwise you weren't here to waste your precious time.

did you hope that diodato would come up with a new dance / rock song with dancers and fireworks?
the stille of diodato is the same in all his songs!

How do you know I hate low-tempo songs? L'essenziale is also in the same line with Fai Rumore, but done in much much better way. It's just that the song doesn't introduce anything new to me melodically.
