Italy ITALY 2014 - Emma - La Mia Città

Good morning!
Speaking about Emma's perfomance of yesterday: her staging and song didn't give her much time to breath but she cope, the best of all reharsal for sure. La mia città is a rock song, not exactly ESC type, lacks of the intermediate music base and this could be difficult for the audience accustomed to standard songs. We brought 4 different genres of music in 4 year. I think this is the worst result for Italy since the first partecipation XD
I can understand why Conchita won but, Spain 9? Montenegro 19? Italy 21? Slovenia 25? Israel and Ireland out of final? Really disappointing but not surprised at all.
Also, italian songs (and the few countries that sing in their native language) are out of place in this englishvision. I’m still wondering why we rejoined the contest.
Italy didn’t withdraw for disappointing results, it was for lack of audience, italians have Sanremo festival from 1951, didn’t really care about Eurovision. Sanremo makes something like 30-40% of share, Eurovision not even 9% in 2014 (thanks darkap).

I still remember Toto Cutugno with "Insieme", although I was a child back than, I can hum that song even today , but I don't remember at all what Italy performed yesterday. For getting votes you need a song easy to remember and sing.
I even remember some of the lyrics, "Europa non e lontana, e una canzone italiana per voi, insieme, unite, unite, Europe"

This was expected. I'm sad for Emma. They should have sent her in 2012 with Non e' l'inferno or this year with a similar song. It would surely do very well.
It was a poor performance. A few songs shouldn't have ended up above you but it got pretty much what it deserved IMO 
but I hope you won't withdraw just because of one failure after such good results. As for me I'd miss 
terribly.

She is really funny, thanks for the gif Emma did what she usually do at her gigs on the ESC stage 
Maybe next year we will be back to the old classic style of melodic ballad xboring
ps: Just a curiosity, Emma studied gymnastics in childhood, her dad makes her change mind about music after hearing her singing live during his performance (her father is a musician).

Everything was perfect, except her live... Anyway, she did better than I expected, and Italy remains one of my favorites of 2014.

Here in Italy seems that suddenly people discovered Eurovision (why not saturday night??? :twisted. Conchita is everywhere (the most successful Eurovision song ever on our iTunes chart) on tv and newspapers and apart from Emma's fans everybody is critic towards her performance. :? It's full of hateful and bad comments about her, called "a shame for Italy" and so on. This nation is so exaggerated!!!
