I don't think that Italy will withdraw from the contest. Firstly, TV rates were higher this year and secondly the music industry, in all the countries, is in a crisis. This contest is the best thing for Italy, a country with a very big music industry, to promote their singers!

Also there is a point RAI is not supporter to promote Eurovision to Italy. Rai broadcasts the show seconder channels and there was no adversiting on TVs about Eurovision AFAIK.

Yes, I agree on that. Maybe RAI do this, because it doesn't want to win and host, but just to promote the country abroad.

I guess time will tell, if they keep it on RAI 2 then I don't see any major big deal with that. It is only once a year.

I'm thinking things will stay the same, but we'll have to wait and see.

As long as they showed them in Rai2... Don't worry, here in Spain they broadcast the contest in "La 2" instead of "La 1" for a while I think and it survived and went back to the main channel

If the contest continues go grow in popularity and ratings wise, I suppose it can be moved to RAI 1 easily.

And in France I said, they downgraded Eurovision from main public channel France 2 to France 3 because of a rugby match one year. And as they wanted to put less attention on Eurovision, it has been decided to let it on France 3, which is a flopping channel only grandmothers watch... And this year, they finally reached their goal to have a very bad rating !

Here in Portugal, even though we didn't participate, the 3 shows were broadcasted on RTP1. At least I'm glad of that!

And this year, they finally reached their goal to have a very bad rating !

Such a bad attitude from French TV hopefully they'll realise one day the contest is full of posibilities.

San Remo is of course a highlight of a NF season!

Together with Norwegian MGP!

And Swedish and Danish MFs are usually great (have some great entries and quality), but I dislike winners..

Although I'm sure the ESC would perform better on France 2, I think in the reform of channels France 3 is the one with the "Regional & European" focus, so it does make sense to programme the ESC there.
