8 points from 'Bama. :D

In the picture, I was expecting Amy Winehouse, and I (somewhat) got Amy Winehouse with the song. Catchy lyrics sung by a good vocalist. The beat is sultry in a good way.

Italy is no longer in my top 10, after they translated almost the whole song into English. It's a pity! Per Sempre was my number 2 after Sweden only, then when they changed the song it fall some places, into number 7, and then when they totally ruined the song with the English lyrics, it's below 10!

Here's a rough translation:
I only knew I was chosen the last [Sanremo] night and I was surprised, but obviously also happy because [ESC] is still a big event that was born out of Sanremo. I didn't know very well what it was because Italy did not partecipated for so long, but I watched something last year, like Raphael Gualazzi's performance; [he] is an artist that I really like, and something else. But then I got to understand things better. I have got [an ESC] DVD from a group of fans and I've seen everything, I realized the greatness of the event: there is a mammoth stage that normally only U2 or Madonna can afford, over 40 countries in the contest. I confess that, as indeed happened in Sanremo, I have a bit of fear there, but as always when I'm on stage it will slowly come down a bit. Just a bit, however ...

I have done and am doing so many live performances, I played in concerts abroad, especially in France in front of 40-50 thousand people but it's different, because in those events I was just the opening artist and the people are there to listen above all others. Instead, in the Eurovision Song Contest everyone is the protagonist and that matters. Then of course there is the competition which obviously increases the adrenaline. Usually when I go to live shows I'm cool. I do not know what will happen in Baku, but I have no problem: I'm going out to sing my song, as it should go.

I was working on a bilingual version of both "Per sempre" and "L'amore è femmina"and I must say that Sanremo's song played very well in English, but I obviously partisan because I write, compose, and arrange the songs so they are a bit all my children. At one point, talking with my staff and the people whose advice I always listen, we felt it was better in a european context "Love is female," both because it is the title track of the album and because it is better suited to a competition of this kind. But for me both the songs would go well.

"L'amore è femmina" came to an English producer, friend of mine, and has been written by Swedish authors and an American. When he heard it he thought it suited me and sent it to me. I've re-written in Italian and I have adjusted the melody. And now I've re-written in English for Baku.

I write the songs mostly in English then translate them into Italian, or at least I translate when it is possible, because there are things that are impossible to translate into Italian, and others that may not translate into English. That's also why I chose to leave the Italian part of the chorus of "Love is a woman": it is a concept which in English would be difficult to make, because the language is devoid of the gender. And I wanted it to remain the key of the song, then run around to all the rest.

How could I choose who to leave behind? so I decided that I will take only three singers, one male and two females, as in the song there are many chorus and they should be sung live. I'm sure it will be a nice performance. Too bad that the music is not played live, but then these are the rules and we all starting as peers: with 42 countries in the competition, it would be complicated to have an orchestra or move instruments. And then for people like me who loves to perform live, there will be lots of opportunities in that week.

I know there will Anggun but I have heard a few things because of the many commitments. I saw the video of the little old Russian (The Buranovskiye Babushki) and I must say that I feel tenderness for them; they resemble a lot of our weeders, as popular tradition. For the rest, even for a little luck, I do not know much what I expected. And I will go there and do my song. I'm sure the audience will appreciate. "

I'd be able to release an international album but this will depend very much on how things go in the Eurovision Song Contest, the feedback that we have, we'll talk with my record company. Sure, it would be a great satisfaction for me to bring my music all over Europe, even through my productions. Perhaps they will succeed, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I change my votes from 12 to 8.

I was going to give it 10 but I waited and when they decided to send it in english I gave it a 6. I really don't like the english version that much! At least there's ONE chorus in italian!
