Re: ISRAEL 2019

Basing on last 2 episodes Shalva band and Maya Buskila qualified for the final.

Ketreyah, Daniel Barzilai, Shefita, Avraham De Carvalho will perform their asses off for the 3rd "ticket" tomorrow.

The last 4th one will be decided between lucky losers: Kobi Marimi & Osher Biton on Thursday.

The Shalva band will probably leave the Israeli final for the Eurovision Song Contest, because of all the Sabbath matters, they have not received approval from their rabbi to participate in the Eurovision, they will probably retire, the reason they have not retired until now because they claim they did not think they would come so far in the competition. (It's only a shame that they just remembered to ask about permission).

I was wondering what Kobi and Osher had to do with this.
Ugh, how does that make sense that Kobi and Osher have a better chance of getting a ticket than the four that got further in the contest than them? If Shalva leaves, hopefully those four artists will be placed in two semis again and each will get a much better shot for a ticket.

At this point, my winner is Kitriyah. I could only hope for Shefita and Avraham, but I now see that they're no longer a match for Maya (who was rather weak on A Million Voices and has had some pretty weak performances throughout, but still gets through because she's so big in Israel :/ ...)

The Shalva band has finally retired, a gift of a consolation prize. She will appear in the second semi-finals as guest appearances

Now that Kobi's back in, I'll admit I'm a bit worried. However, seeing that Osher and him had a 2 point margin and that the judges actually gave both the same amount of points, maybe people are finally seeing through his hype now.

I predict that Avraham and Kobi will go to the final, Shefita/Kobi seems unlikely since she doesn't do amazing with the voters. Ideally, I'd prefer to see Avraham/Shefita or Avraham/Daniel though.

It's amazing, if you asked me a decade ago, or even six years ago, I would say that Maya Buskila should be Israel's representative in the Eurovision Song Contest, today? I do not see another contestant that I prefer apart from Shafita, Kobi 2nd place, Avraham third, but both of them in a big gap from her. Buskila is not at all my top 5.

Totally agree! IMO, she was more hit or miss than Shefita. Do you think people in Israel just sent her through because of how popular she is?
Shame that Avraham didn't qualify, you rarely find voices like that.

There is no doubt that Maya Buskila in the final, also because of her name, because of her past, and also all the times in Israel that they almost said they were sending her and then suddenly came Izabo (Which I love very much), Teapacks and other singers who supposedly "took her place" or "came at her expense." It seems in the final how it really looks.

As an Israeli who sees what happens in Israeli social networks related to the Eurovision Song Contest, during the entire season there was very little talk about Maya, more about the other finalists, it could be because they took Maya for granted to the finals, but it may be because it is less interesting because we know What will we get from Maya, if she wins the competition and reaches the Eurovision Song Contest.

I'm like I said, a decade ago I was with her, this time on this show, I love her less than the finalists, as far as I'm concerned she is not the top 5 in the competition. It may be that for Israelis too, this is the reason why people do not talk about it too much, because everyone is more interesting and looking for something new, original or even entertaining, the result will be known only on Tuesday

Ha, I love Izabo's entry too! I think the only Israeli entries from 2005-present that I can't stand are 2006, 2007, and 2011. Y'all are delivering, and I feel like HaKokhav Haba is a very underrated selection.

IDK, Shefita is the only artist I can understand the hype with. I should have figured that Kobi and Avraham would've cancelled each other out, being that they're big balladeers. After seeing Shefita totally kill both of her songs (especially Feeling Good, that was gorgeous) tonight, I think she's my winner now, and the only other person I'd take would be Kitriya. I think Maya will look less interesting compared to the other three on Tuesday anyways.

I'm excited for Tuesday.

Re: ISRAEL 2019

It is important to remember that until now, none of the candidates in this show throughout the season has met the test of a broad audience. The only ones who were the judges, the only ones who decided who was going to stage, who goes home and who will be the finalists, were the audience in the studio and the judges. We, as the home crowd, have not yet had the opportunity to make our voices heard. I'm not sure that if the selection was outside the studio, then a band like Shalva would have reached the final.

The audience in the studio is mostly composed of teenagers or adults who know Maya's name, her past, her songs. You have to remember, the audience hated Shafita for example throughout the season, probably because they did not know her and did not understand what it was about. Or they made a big deal out of it. They knew Maya, so they voted for her. If the competition had stayed entirely in the studio, Shafita would not have won the final. But now that the choice is live, for everyone, she has a chance to win.
