If your "why" refers to the first qoute there, it's hard for Israel because of the political stigma they got... and obviously because the lack of "bloc/friends" in the contest.

It's even harder for countries like San Marino and yet here we are with Valentina in the final! If Israel's song is good enough they will be fine :)

We still don't know whether it was the juries or public that "saved" San Marino though...

Am I the only one thinking this might fail tomorrow? I've watched again and again and I'm still not convinced. I believe it lacks general appeal, she may come across as a tad vulgar, the stage might look a bit empty, switch from English to Hebrew may prove somewhat offputting and she comes from slot 2.

I can't see her as a cert.

But even so the same combination of voting will be judging Israel too.

I agree. Israel does not have many "pro's" to help them. But it IS possible even to win even though one are not favoured with many neighbours or diaspora. But Israel have on top of that some political stigma as you said. The song and performance may be good enough for winning - but not sure because of the above mentioned.
But I see Israel as a CERTAIN qualifier.

But San Marino doesn't have a political stigma, in fact most people don't even know what San Marino is

Israel, on the other hand, is a VERY known country and unfortunately Europe is filled with anti-Israelis that work 24/7 to give them a general bad name... and unfortunately this effects people also in ESC.

If Israel fails to qualify tomorrow I will be pissed.
I can't see it happening though, despite all the adversities they will face, like the lack of voting strength and the running order. The song and the performance are simply too good for this to be stuck on the semi-finals.

This and Poland better qualifies... otherwise I'll just boycott Eurovision !!! :(

I think both will qualify, though Poland may struggle a bit. Basically they could end up as the "Igranka" of 2014, finishing well with the televoters and bad with the juries, narrowly missing out, even though I don't think the televoting will help them as much as it helped Montenegro last year.
But the second semi-final has many songs that seem to be non-qualifiers, so if anything I think Poland will qualify at worst in 10th or 9th place.

I'm pretty confident that Israel will qualify though. If they don't, no one better talk to me after the show ends

Have you seen all the hype (in the good sense; I love it) about the Dutch song after the first semi final? I can see the same happening tomorrow with Mei.

Yet that didn't stop Ms.Maimon to finish a respectable 4th place in 2005... a good song's a good song so no worries (although Shiri's boobs surely helped too)

Heard that she killed it in the jury rehearsal today! xyes
To those of you that can vote for Israel during semi-two, could you please toss in a few extra votes for Mei? xrose It really sucks being stuck in the US...

From the dress rehearsal video this seems too ugly, I'm so disappointed, it's beyond mediocre..I hope she won't qualify..

I can't express how disappointed I will be if Mei doesn't qualify tomorrow. She is easily the best performer in this whole semi!
