I don’t think they were last. I even think they were 12th after Latvia.

Anyway, they really should try harder. UK were like them and suddenly sent Sam Ryder, with success. Germany were like them too and now pulled LOTL out of the hat, which no matter the outcome made many Germans happy and can be proud.

Ireland has forgotten how to produce a good Eurovision song. They were so good in the 80s and 90s without sending the same generic song over and over again. Ok, the 90s were full of ballads, yet they had incredible entries in their genre. They need a good songwriter like Johnny Logan or at least, compose a great ballad then! But no, they are sending all these generic pop songs. Why not something that people reminds of Ireland? Send some good old folk stuff, not that plastic folk like in 2014.

Bad entry, awful clothing lol... yeah it got what it deserved... question is will Ireland (RTÉ) finally get the hint and learn something? xshrug

I think though that if the juries would have been involved in the semis, they would have made sure this would have qualified, it fits their lame taste.

Malta's vote can be unpredictable. They voted for :uk: 2015 and 2017 as well.
So I guess, it's probably 4 ptas coming from Malta.

It’s quite clear at this stage this was always a glorified internal selection.
I'm not sure about that otherwise Wild Youth and Lydon's group would've been the top 2 instead of a 19 year old female no name. Wild Youth were always going to win the televote in the NF though.

Malta has a strong relationship with the UK though like they literally voted to become part of the UK in the 1960s and the UK just ignored them lol

They even have the George Cross on their flag.

RTE wanted Ryan to emerge from an exploding cake (not a metaphor) in his 2018 performance
This can't be real. Honestly, who in his right mind thinks that would a fitting staging for that song. If Croatia would have done that, it would have made sense somehow, everything was weird af. But for Ryan's song, my god... No wonder they stuck Conor this year in this ridiculous golden camel toe suit.

Ive been listening to Together a lot today (which is hard because I dont particularly like it) just to work out where the hell in the song Ryan was meant to jump out of a cake

As a 1000% fan of Ireland's style of peaceful walk-though-the-hill-like-its-little-house-on-the-prairie-song (like 22, sunlight, etc), you can't just not sing your own chorus. And a quite easy one at that. He is the sole vocalist this year where the second vocals are better technical singers than him. I like the song. But it's preposterous. The pants I couldn't care for, btw. :sneaky:
