Technically OT at this point but... i'm NOT surprised "Hawaii" didn't win, that performance was not good in any way at all... i think his voice sounds "beautifully" cracked and fragile in the studio version, but this was just off pitch and unconvincing. Too bad, Ireland need to try something else than super bland pop.

I loved their performance. Not gonna lie.. I´ve watched it 3, 4 times... I just can´t stop laughing (it´s still a beautiful song) but that performance.. oh boy...

Watched the "show" live and many times wondered to ask the locals, are they singing off-key on site as well or is this just me being in different time zone? :ROFLMAO:
After reading some comments here during the acts I realized my hearing was ok.
But overall, I refuse to think that all the performers in the final are terrible live artists. It must have something to do with the technical side in the studio. Ear monitors not working properly or smth like that. It's not normal for all of them to be off-key, some less, some more, but everybody in some point.
Ok, the "Hawaii" folks might have had some other reason for that xcheersxdance2

This happens pretty much every year in their NF. They need to realize that hosting a NF on a late-night show is one of the stupidest decisions ever in the history of Eurovision. Stupid and embarassing even honestly, considering that we're talking about the country with the most Eurovision wins ever.
If they truly have no budget to organize a proper NF like they argue (which sounds like total BS to me) they should go back to internal selections, but with a completely different team and HoD behind it.

Im downgrading from :1: to :0: because I gave it another try today but the lyrics became even more painful to listen to

I believe RTÉ stated that the had the budget to either do a proper NF or Dancing With the Stars and they chose to do DWTS.
But the fact that they even considered doing a big NF gives me hope for next year

'Cause you’re a sky, you’re a sky full of stars

Ahem. What do we say about this? I kinda like it, it's cute and feels sincere. But that live performance really ain't it, and I just came from the live version of the Czech song which is just as horrendous. I fear for my ears come May, what is this? Vocal coaches, please do your magic.

That's it.

This is not it.

P.S. Now that I left it here, he was so beautiful then, he stayed beautiful on the inside always. Thank you man for Miss Sarajevo. Love you!

If I was them I would pull a Malta and change the song. It's not a bad song but so generic. To me it just screams NQ or bottom 5 in GF. They have much better songs than this. Like "Can't say no" (which is of course too old but just an example).

The one thing that actually bothers me most is the glitter suit which is completely off (imho). I‘m picturing a Bono-esque leather jacket to this song and not sequins.

Has Ireland ever changed the song after their NF?

Personally, I don´t think it´s really that chanceless - of course, it´s generic as a song can get but that doesn´t mean it can´t be appeal to some televoters...

They should perform before Mama ŠČ. 🤣

Nah, Is BBC in charge of the running order?

I can totally see :ie: closing the first half because "they are somehow known" and their entry is such a closing "anthem" to unite all people with their generic mess.. no one has to think about it, they´ve heard these lyrics several times before.

All the other entries are either "demanding" (:hr: or even  because it´s a high-energetic up-tempo song hitting hard) or "too experimental" (:mt: is kinda groovy and would be a great opener if you ask me and :lv: is too indie and will probably get that #2 slot) I don´t expect :rs: and :pt: to crown "ordinary pop songs" as winners either...and therefore, :ie: could function as a vital link to reconcile viewers with the end of the first half... and "We are One" despite being cheesy and a bit "teen"-y still got some "stadium/arena" feeling (I know I´m exaggerating a bit but really think that this song sends such vibes).

I really believe "We Are Young" will close the first half (or open the semi since it´s an inoffensive sing-along song but recently, the first entry was more "out there" .. I would place my bet on Ireland closing the firs thalf).
