I'm gonna let go of the armor
Let off the power that I've been lighting
Not afraid of the monsters, of the nightmares
That I've been fighting

Easy to run, harder to stay
Finding colors in the grey
You thought I was done
But I've gotta go on
I fell twice, now I'm twice as strong

I've been searching all the wrong places
I've been trying too many faces
Only one way to go
This is the way back home
I've been searching all the wrong places
I've been trying too many faces
Only one way to go
This is the way back home

I had to take all of the wrong ways
All of the wrong ways
As I couldn't see
All the signs, all the mistakes
Pointing one way to get back to me

Easy to run, harder to stay
Finding colors in the grey
You thought I was done
But I've gotta go on
I fell twice, now I'm twice as strong

I've been searching all the wrong places
I've been trying too many faces
Only one way to go
This is the way back home
I've been searching all the wrong places
I've been trying too many faces
Only one way to go
This is the way back home

My soul is a map, my heart is a compass
I am the road
There's only one way to go
This is the way back home
My soul is a map, my heart is a compass
I am the road
There's only one way to go
This is the way back home

I've been searching all the wrong places
I've been trying too many faces
Only one way to go
This is the way back home
I've been searching all the wrong places
I've been trying too many faces (I've been trying)
Only one way to go
This is the way back home

Samantha Mumba just came back with her first single in years and it's under 3 minutes and eligible, unfortunately it sucks big time but she's still a name I would consider for Ireland (with the right entry of course).

ohhh I just wish UK and Ireland would return to their glory days, lowkey seems impossible, since artists there really don't see esc in the proper light..

Until there's a massive overhaul at RTÉ in general and the old ways of thinking and doing things there are thrown out, we won't do well at all. A few years ago someone inside RTÉ began to leak information about how backwards and stifling the atmosphere for creativity is inside RTÉ, it's a fascinating read, you can see it here. RTÉ is suffering a lot here, very few people enjoy what they put out, their very few media personalities are payed fortunes due to bizarre contracting issues, and they're just stagnant. Until this is fixed, Ireland's attitude towards Eurovision will remain dull.

Quite sad indeed. I wish Ireland would think about having a second broadcaster like what belgium do. Maybe that would encourage RTE to try harder and be open minded.

I think :ie: simply failed to make it into the 21st century when it comes to the ESC. People in charge at RTE see the contest still as it was in the 90s, and that´s the way most of their songs sounded since the millenium. xbored

They actually have a second broadcaster, the one that takes part in JESC. I agree that countries that have more than one broadcaster in EBU, should alternate the participation in ESC between them, like Belgium and Russia do.

that's a shame, if it stays there's no way to modernize rte even for eurovision.

Living in Ireland,I understand how they lost the intrest in Eurovison overtime so I fear Ireland withdrawing due to lack on intrest....Also I hope new generation will change the attitude......

Yeah sadly that broadcaster will be same as RTE..... Also reason why Ireland delayed the submissions because of 'lack of intrest' or some people didn't know existed....

Honestly I think they should just hand it over to TG4. The thing about TG4 is that it's the only Irish-language TV station in the world, so you get everyone who is passionate about Irish and working in media working there, whereas if you're passionate about working in media but only speak English then you can go work in so many other places. I had a lot of friends who studied media and they were encouraged to go apply to work in British television studios as RTÉ was so stagnant (and still is).

I mean to be fair in 2019, the reason for that was mainly due to pressure from organisations and musicians who wanted to boycott the contest that year, that's why they scraped the bottom of the barrel picking some 5th place finisher in the Voice of Ireland

or having RTE and TG4 alternating/combining teams is another good idea. TG4 have proven they could pack a good performance, so why not give them a chance?

I don't see that likely that to happen. RTE are the national broadcaster at the end of the day but alternating between them and TG4 would be something different at least and some sort of compromise I see plausible. The fact TG4 already select the Junior entry every year means you would think they'd have an appetite for it.

I wonder if the song would have to be in Irish when it was their turn in this hypothetical situation.

Strongly feel they could end up doing a good job though. They already put in a tremendous amount of work towards Gaelic games at all levels and folk music. It could also create a bit of a friendly rivalry kind of like what VRT and RTBF have at a moment with Belgium. Although I doubt RTE would want that.

I think this is the most legit explanation, Ireland simply didn't catch the train to the new millenium and lost it along the way. The constant winning in the 90's, sometimes with entries that probably wouldn't have won even with 50% televoting let alone 100%, made the broadcaster cocky and nostalgic and they seem unwilling to face the reality.

On the other hand to be fair there were some years (in particular between 2013-2015), where I think they did try and still failed so that can be a bit discouraging obviously.

I don't know how viable this would be....but I think it would be interesting if the major Irish broadcasters could all submit 1 or 2 entries and then have a national final where the public votes on the winner.

In this scenario I'm imagining RTE, TG4 and TV3 would each put forward two potential entries for a national final of six songs.

As I said it probably wouldn't go down well with the broadcasters (but I feel like if they could at least try to play ball with each other it could result in something really interesting)....but I feel like we really need to do something to shake up the formula because what we're doing clearly isn't working.

I think having some competition between broadcasters could be a good thing for the quality of our entries as well.

Alternating would be a great idea, and would be a great boost for TG4.

Roe is phenomenal, I saw her live and for such a small young woman she really fills a venue with her presence and her voice. And she handed out sweets at the end of her performance so why not!

A tactic that can be used in ESC too? :D
