Maybe I'm being a bit harsh but my problem is with her vocals and stage presence. She's hot and has power behind her voice but its a bit 'meh'. I think I care about the song too much and want it to be the best.

The vocals were a bit quiet at the start, but essentially after 30 seconds or so her vocals are at least on-par with the studio version. Hoping for more dynamic staging, and that this was just to fit the format of the show she was on at the time.

Other than the staging, it doesn't seem like Ireland is off to a bad start! Staging will apparently be key for this song to qualify. Beyond that, who knows.

Please enjoy this image describing me watching the Strictly performance:

SO. DAMN. CUTE. The vocal was FINE. The staging was a beautiful pastel heavenscape. I love the slot Ireland are going for. They could've made the entire entry dreary (all the pieces were there!), but they have zero interest in that. I'm upgrading to TEN points. Loved that.

(it's apparently not clear that the text is "MAN GETTING HIT BY SUGAR SUGAR;" that's what it says)

The set they used for the Dancing With the Stars looks good to be honest. The pastels plus the 60s diner vibes fit the retro sound of the song.

Take that staging to Tel Aviv and I upgrade my 10 to 12. Anything with a retro American diner aesthetic holds the key to my heart. It works so, so perfectly with the song. So carefree and cute. Her voice is great live too.

This song will certainly qualify and at least come in the top 10 at the end. Unlike many others in the top 10, it will work very well on the radio and survive there for a long time.

As many people already said this staging is actually good and fits the song great! I desperately want it in the final because its my favorite xheart but it won't be easy in the SF2!

Tumblr, mostly.
Lol this is so typical of this board to go gaga over this. Yeah, her voice is good, yeah her staging is colourful, but boy what a listless, low-energy performance for what is a pretty uptempo, perky song. There is a certain disconnect between what you hear and what you see and that will cost them.

Ireland is never qualifying. Ever. Not in that semifinal. Not with that performance style. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluding themselves.

pros: she really should be going for the retro vibe as it's maybe her only ticket to qualification if that's even possible

cons: she sounded bad (and i usually don't care so you know it's bad), looked awkward and the entire affair looked a bit too uk in the 80s

it's the right direction but there's a lot of work to do still. eurovision delegations, when in doubt, should always turn to kpop, an industry that excels in selling their concepts live while still being more than achievable with an eurovision budget.

ireland wouldn't even need this much choreography. (or people on stage lol)

(there are kpop examples closer to sarah's american diner concept but i chose this one because even the song kind of sounds similar)

It's better than songs that try too hard.. This one is of course chanceless to win Eurovision but it's nice, simple.. not harmful at least.

That performance is made for being a interval act of a Dancing with the Stars live show. What is making y'all think that's how the staging will look like in Eurovision?

It was almost a certain non-qualifier, but yeah.......the chances are even lower now.

I find the song a bit flat, basic and simple. But it's pleaseant and catchy at the same time.

In my personal table, it is a borderline in thah semi but the draw didn't help Sarah unfortunately...
