Song 4: Iva - "Oculis videre"
An operatic song which includes some Latin. It sounded to me like the rest of the song was in Icelandic, which is good. Iva can sing the range, including the high pitch sections. The background images added to song, as did the stage clouds (presumably created by frozen carbon dioxide). Excellent, one of the best song tonight.

It's not that I don't like Dadi's song. I like its groove and I enjoy it more than On Fire, if it were to win I'd give a good amount of points.

But when you have Iva, pick Iva. I already imagine this on the big stage.

DIMMA: Very good actually for what it is. It's hard to stage, but it was engaging like this and the vocals were great. Hope they won't win, but they should try again. This type of soft melodic metal is bound to work at some point.

Song 5: DIMMA - "Almyrkvi"
A predominantly heavy rock song. Unsurprisingly this included good use of flames and flashing lights. Heavy rock isn't my cup of tea generally, but I question whether anyone will like this. The first two lines are almost ballad like, and ballad lovers will have a shock when the third line is reached. On the other hand, the ballad like introduction could put off hard rock fans, who expect rock from the very first note (like Hatari's song last year).

My ranking:

1. Iva
2. DIMMA
...
3. Nina (she's too cute and I'm a spiteful asshole to Dathi)
4. Dathi
5. The two middle aged women in the shiny suits I can't be bothered to name

So, I still don't know which one I want to win. I guess I'll go with Iva as I think she has the most potential in Rotterdam... and honestly it would be the perfect follow-up to Hatari, a 180° turn.

This is a very strong final. Iva will probably be my top of the year if chosen, and Dadi also quite high near the top. I love how countries start to put efforts after they get a good result in the previous year.
