Re: ICELAND 2019

Fridrik's song is so incredibly plodding and bland. I'm praying that we're able to avoid what would probably be my last-placed song of the season when we could instead get Hatari as my #1.

Fridrik seems to have aged alot. Well, it's been 11 years already.

Song #1 - Friðrik Ómar – Hvað ef ég get ekki elskað?

Sounds pleasant, but that´s the only thing I like about it. Other than that, its pretty boring.

Song #2 - Kristina Skoubo Bærendsen – Mama said

I like the song (studio version at least), but dislike that staging. They should have gone for something more "classy" when it comes to the stage performance. The guitar and those dancers were unnecessary.

Re: ICELAND 2019

I'm currently watching, from the UK, the the Icelandic national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, Söngvakeppnin 2019. The 5 songs taking part, one of which will represent Iceland in Tel Aviv in May, are:

Friðrik Ómar - Hvað ef ég get ekki elskað?
Kristina Skoubo Bærendsen - Ég á mig sjálf (wildcard)
Tara Mobee - Betri án þín
Hera Björk - Eitt Andartak
Hatari - Hatrið Mun Sigra

I haven't watched or listened to any preview videos or audio recordings in advance, so tonight's live Söngvakeppnin 2019 final will be my first time of seeing / hearing them, and I'll be judging them solely on that. Anyway, good luck to all 5 participants. May the best song win.

Re: ICELAND 2019

My views so far:

1) Friðrik Ómar - Hvað ef ég get ekki elskað?
The singer had quite a nice voice, and it's in Icelandic. These days, when a lot of countries sing in English, it's nice to hear a song in a country's own native language.

2) Kristina Skoubo Bærendsen - Mama Said
I know the title is different to my previous post; my list of participants came straight from the official ESC site, whereas what was sung has come from My Eurovision Scoreboard. Mama Said is livelier than song no. 1, but I thought the singer's voice was a bit weak on the first verse, however thankfully it was stronger on the choruses and middle eight. As for the dancers, are they really necessary? I thought, if anything, they're distracting.

That drop in song 3 just cuts through, very nice

Yay Tara xcheer I love her song so much! She needs a bit more energy on stage, but I'd love to see her sneak it as a surprise

Song #3 - Tara Mobee – Fighting for love

Pretty meh tbh. I enjoyed the verses with acoustic guitar sounds but that chorus is a no.

3) Tara Mobee - Fighting For Love
Her voice is a bit more consistent between verses and choruses, but I didn't think the song was as good as song no. 1 or 2. Were the rapidly changing colour lights during the choruses really necessary? My live stream went pixellated, as my broadband couldn't handle the necessary extra data to provide a stable picture. Mark my words, that problem will occur on UK standard definition DTT in May if that's chosen for ESC 2019.

Hera is one of the most inspirational ESC artists ever for me. Loving her. Please come back next year, dont make us wait for another 9 years.
