In my eyes it was pretty obvious this song will fail since it was selected in the NF... bad bad move Iceland, the staging and the song were made for eurofans not for Eurovision, and that's a huge difference.

I wasn't as surprised because that performance was really underwhelming especially the camera work. Poor Greta. :(

The performance was really confusing and I am not surprised that she failed to qualified. That's what she deserved in first place imho. The song was kinda bad too.

Are people just willfully choosing to be blind? Don't get me wrong, I love Greta and the song (especially in Icelandic/Raddirnar), but the staging was just off centre, and really off putting for first time viewers.

Compare this:

And this:

It made the mapping all look distorted, and people were more concerned whether she was standing in the right spot than what she was singing about. These are objective views.

Meh. I'd didn't notice her being off mark at all, even if she was. I don't think that would have been a justifiable reason for it not to qualify either. Sucks for Iceland, but that's Eurovision... Hopefully they'll be back next year.

This was my second last song in my personal ranking-list yesterday. I never liked this song and I´m not sad about the non-qualification. Sorry.

I think Eurovision do not like such dark songs and performances.

You might not like it but I'm still alive and well.

I think the main problem is that songs like this are never worth voting for. People just take pleasure in watching it and nothing more or less.
Even me, who still can't get over the fact that she failed to qualify, would not vote for it if i could. Because it was my 3rd-4th overall.
I think this song was in top 10 of many people, but what matters is being the very 1st fave, cuz we can't vote on a scale of 12-10-8-1.

edit: I think the other one to blame is the f***ing jury, of course. I'm quite sure they pulled her down. She must have been around 7th on televoting and 14-15th on jury votes, I guess.
COME ON EUROPE! We've had enough of these juries.

I hope that it's not true. It would be unblievable if they put Azerbaijan higher than Iceland. Greta had much better performance than Samra

BTW I love your signature xheart

Greta should have qualified instead of Samra or Ira. I feel sorry for her.

I feel really sorry for Iceland and Greta, one of the best songs and performances this year... I can't say much more about that other than this is one of those entries that when looking back you can say was "robbed". I wonder if it was the public or juries robbing her... to be continued.

I thought Iceland was a sure qualifier and this song has always been one of my favorites, so I'm very disappointed. A few of the qualifiers were less deserving of the grand final than Greta.

My personal ranking has changed significantly and I decided to put Armenia first (up from seventh place) and Iceland only second in my ranking of this semi. I cannot rank the entries like someone who has never heard the songs or seen the stagings before. On the one hand, Armenia felt fresher to me since I had already watched Greta's NF performance numerous times. I also hadn't really listened much to the Armenian entry. On the other hand, Greta had been on top of my ranking for months, which is another bias that casual viewers don't have. I don't know what I would have ranked higher, if it had all been new to me. Maybe I should stop watching everything before the contest. I think watching Eurovision would be more fun without previous knowledge about the entries and the show. xthink

I think the winner should have a staging that doesn't remind people of previous winners, even if such comparisons aren't necessarily justified. I have always defended Greta's projections but the Armenian staging felt more unique to me. Both Greta and Sergey have projections that are very different from last year but the use of this technology was inspired by last year's winner. I can see that this is not ideal but I really like the idea with the shadows and Greta's staging.

I'm curious to find out the exact ranking on Sunday. Maybe people really got tired of the mapping after Russia. I think if different acts are perceived as similar, the act that comes later in the running order has a disadvantage. Douwe had a break in the song, Sergey had mappings. Greta had both of these elements first but from the perspective of the Eurovision audience, she came later.

Good for you. I was actually worried

Thank you for thinking of me so often. You are quite charming today. (although you mentioned me earlier to let me know that you consider me a "fucktard")

The performance was good but the song for me was too shallow and forgettable, kinda like last year.

She were much better on their national selection.
