Well, I mean the language should be kept also for ESC...

Acts are not making decisions without the broadcasters... just to clarify.

Forcing your acts to sing in Icelandic is just restricting them at ESC. They should be able to sing in whatever language they want.

Proper bitched about it. Be lucky it was shown. They took a sudden hatred against Ukraine, Belarus and Italy - They didn't even get a glimpse.

So Iceland is like a slightly less severe Belarus?

a lot of the songs are actually written in English and translated into Icelandic to comply with the rules of the broadcaster. Then in case they win, the Icelandic version is dropped. Yohanna's Notte a few years ago is a prime example. She would have performed in English had she won cause that was the plan to begin with.

Didn't know that. I remember A-Lister moaning about the language of songs being changed for national selection. Interesting that the shoe is on the other foot.

A-Lister, yeah, we rarely disagree, the last time i remember was when Greta & Jonsi switched to english, i liked "Never forget", you didn't :D
But yeah, changing language is just not fair to people who paid to vote, only changing a song completely is worse (Hi, Belarus).

So you agree switching from English to Icelandic would be wrong as well?

ugh. I don't know if I prefer the boring conversation this has, or the relentless line up of interval songs that Belarus and Ukraine had on offer.

Enjoy your semi-final exit Iceland. This ESC just keeps getting worse.
